It was a great breakdown by Law but a few things I disagree with after i watched a lot of tape on Sam (De).
1. He is not just going to be a pass rush specialist. That was my initial impression as well based on scouting reports and highlights. After studying..he will be a full time player...at least as much as any other DE with the rotations we have. Gregory had 19 whole tackles last year guys...pretty sure SW can match that production. SW was in a bad fit defense for his skillset. Law called it a 3-4 but it really was a 3-3-5. Many games, including against powerhouse Alabama, he was lining up headup or even inside shade with the T. He was constantly taking on the big boys, te's and rbs. He won't do any of that in dallas but it was good for him bc it shows he is tough and fights.
2. SW runs the bendy angle just fine. He just wasn't asked to do it a lot. In Dallas...it will probably be the majority of what he is asked to do. Scream around the outside, hard cut inside to switch it up. Also...a lot of the critique of SW redirecting his rush outside was also scheme. He was maintaining contain, to a fault. The other DE did the same if you notice. The guy had 12.5 sacks in this defense in which he was the only threat. I looked at Aiden Hutchinson...if SW played on michigan in that "Wide 9" type defense with Ojabo on the other side...he would have had 20 sacks and won the heisman.
Just love the pick, only thing i don't have is all the off the field "issues". Only on i know about is the sexual assault that was dropped. Is there more?
