Twitter: Should Philbin be on hot seat?

My biggest problem with Philbin is the number of times I watched a running play and saw the center helping Zack Martin, the LG helping Tyron and at least one defender waltzing untouched into the backfield. That had to play out at least a dozen times a game whether with running plays or pass plays. I don't know who devises those blocking schemes between him and Moore but whomever is responsible needs to have that responsibility taken away from him. Maybe they call it right on the sidelines but either Dak or Biadasz are screwing it up. I honestly don't know and really don't care.. It just needs to get fixed and it's the coaches responsibility to see that it does.

Philbin is an issue coaching this OL. He should have been fired already. Now we just have to hope he doesn't set these young kids back who already need a lot of technique work.

I would say Tyler Smith developing quickly would help his cause a whole lot. Line play went backwards last year.

Yep every lineman in Dallas h as played worse under Philbin except Steele.. including a couple of future Hall of Famers. Sorry but that is not a ringing endorsement for what he's doing .. But it's clear he's going to be the guy at least one more year so we all have to pray they figure it out sooner than later.

I shall respectfully disagree here. Who here can forget how bad the line played during the time (2018?) when Paul Alexander was here. Then the Cowboys fired him on the bye week and elevated Columbo and were back to doin what they do. Coaching matters.

Colombo's line didn't perform any better than they did under Alexander. The difference that season was the trade for Amari Cooper, which opened the offense up.

Not a huge fan of Philbin but that’s unfair. He got the tailend of Tyron and Zack’s careers. Frederick is long gone. LC was already in undisciplined millionaire mode. What new talent did Philbin get? Steele and Biadasz, and one could argue he has done exceptionally well for that talent he was given and made it work. This is his first prime talent coming in with Smith.

Again, I don’t think Philbin is a masterful Oline coach, but I do think people aren’t realizing that the line we knew is gone. We’re in the last days. Already blew it, never did anything with it, including Zeke, and have to rebuild. Whether Jerry thanks big Mac, Philbin and team are the right ones to do that, who knows. I think Jerry is just hoping this offense can do one last hurrah. Except for Tank and LVE, we’ve already given up and started rebuilding that Defense and no more Hot Boyz leftovers. Justifiably holding onto the offense a little longer because that was some damn good talent and running game at one point. All good things come to an end though. Last thing will be to see if Dak deserves to move on with the offense.

That is exactly what I keep saying and I get the whole its tyron's injury fault excuse. I hope its rectified this year but i'm not holding my breath.

Thats debatable.

They used a 4th and a 5th to get him.

He started one season and was bad for half of it.

The way this team is run they need mid round picks to be solid starters.

I like him, was all for dealing up for him, and I root for him hard, but I also think his struggles (seemingly out of nowhere) were a big part of the offense heading south.

I'm not sure if we need an upgrade or more consistency out of him, but one of the two is in order and I guess we will find out in camp.

Funny how everyone is bashing Philbin here and Biadasz is one hell of an example of great coaching. Not physically overpowering, just a smart player, good technique who gets every ounce out of what god gave him, always comes hard and never gives up. If that isn’t a product of good coaching, I don’t know what is. And that’s another reason why they got rid of what feels like everyone’s boy, Collins, he is the opposite.

Biadasz has also outperformed his draft position.

He obviously hasn’t developed good enough to be a solid starter. Some are criticizing the Cowboys for not taking a center with their first pick.

Credit where credit Is due in how Steele has improved from the 2020 version that he was.
But other than that I thought he did a poor job coaching the oline for the entire last half of the regular season.

His seat should be very hot.
Especially if the run game disappears again.

The OL loved Columbo and played their rears off for him.

And Columbo used hybrid blocking scheme - mixed ZBS with power man.

We been on the hot seat, taking a bludgeoning from our peers, for all the embarrassment this team has brought us. I've listened to so much trash talk the last couple decades it makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it.
