Boards or not, I’ve always said Landry never would have made it in today’s sports world. Can you see any owner tolerating a coach who starts with 6 losing seasons? Even Jimmy might have been fired after his first season with that solo win season. We’ve probably missed out on some great talent with our low attention span quick gratification culture these days. Plus, it's only a fictitious number used by the owners to set the salaries. Nobody has access to the books to see how much the owners are actually making. From what I vaguely recall, the reason the NFL settled with Kap when the possibility of the books being opened became a real possibility.

Not sure what there is to boast about.

Not as a defense of Jones, but he did have to write a check to Herschel Walker for $1.25M to get the trade to the Vikings to go through. This, during a time when he was fully leveraged financially with a team that was losing money.

This team winning or losing games does not affect my happiness or sadness in my everyday life. If you live your life that way then I feel for you.

So, the answer to you asking if it's "to painful to be a supportive fan" that answer is no. I'm saying that I'm not dumb enough to put blind trust into something that has failed for 26 straight years until that something shows me that it is consistently working. I will always root for and watch this team. They are my time. But I will not be suckered into believing "this is the year" every year like others constantly are. I will HOPE that this is the year things change, but getting butt hurt at others for thinking year 27 is going to be like the past 26 years is clown behavior. If they want to earn fans like myself trust back then they need to build a winning product that does it consistently .Don't talk about it, be about it.

Would you take a car on vacation when it hasn't made it to the end of your driveway without breaking down for the past 26 years? Would you hop on a plane that's had to have an emergency landing every flight for the past 26 years? No, you wouldn't. Why the Cowboys? Why the blind faith? Why are they the one thing that doesn't need to earn it? I mean, you're clearly upset that I don't have faith in this organization or you wouldn't have took the time to say what you did. Why does that bother you?

I have no idea what trust and my team has to do with anything. I trust my kid’s school with my sons. I trust that my car will get me to work.

Say you are me…or other 50 plus posters…and your fandom started on the 70s. You basically were in the midst of 20 straight winning seasons. It was always SB or bust. That’s a great expectation whether you fail or not. Besides some hiccups in the late 80s/early 90s you then have more success. So for someone like me born In 70 who is a football kid at 5-6 and remembers SBs with family then I have about 20 years of fandom with almost all having a SB or bust mentality.

So now I’m 52 and haven’t sniffed a NFCCG in 26 years and have 3 playoff wins. So you’re telling me no one is supposed to be disappointed or think maybe this team isn’t run right after 10 yrs Garrett etc.? Do you not see the dichotomy there. I swear I think some people have mild cases of Stockholm syndrome. There is no logical reason why you would blindly support every move an organization that has failed over and over for 26 straight years makes. You would not do it with anything else in your life.

I find the "go find another team" line quite interesting.

If it were THAT easy, it would never have to be said.

It's like saying to a friend...'well, your last few relationships with women went badly, maybe try men.'

No. You’re not getting my logic. There’s no trust involved with me pulling for my team. I don’t trust or not trust them. I need to trust the school because the consequences of them failing is real life problems.

And that’s what I’m trying to explain to you. Using that word seems strange to me. It’s not that them winning is not important either. It’s important.

Yes. I think your putting down most (is that better?) moves is your way of shielding yourself, “hedging your bet” and preparing yourself to deal with the hurt of not winning it all. So you can say “I told you, I knew that move was bad, Dak was horrible, etc” “. You're trying to get some control over your feelings.

They’ve won quite a bit and we still have one of the highest winning percentages so it’s not all losing. But yea. No playoff success sucks. A LOT.

I have no idea what you mean by trusting a team. I have to have faith that my car and my kids school will work. I don’t know if the cowboys will, but I sure hope so and pull for them to win.

I just think we have a decent chance of winning. I thought so vs Green Bay and San Fran in our recent playoff games. You like to lower expectations to protect the way it’ll make you feel if we lose. That’s ok.
