Projected Starters

LT-Tyron
LG-Smith
C-Biaz
RG-Martin
RT-Steele

Projected Backups

LT-Waleskco (front office already stated he will work at LT/LG)
LG-McGovern/Farniok
C-Farniok
RG-McGovern
RT-Ball

I think the top 9 are certain roster locks, question is do they bring in a veteran swing tackle and even an veteran interior player. It is quite possible an undrafted signee can also earn a spot.

Pretty much how i see the OL depth chart as well.

Club deciding Not to go vet swing OT, and exclusively with rookie and 2nd year guys.
Hope it works with the youth movement.
I'm for working Ball and "Wally " at both swing OT roles as well as some OGs.

Only way to get better is to get more reps and experience.

Tyler Smith should be the LT backup. Don't care if he has to learn to play LG. He is *now* our best LT, and we want him to be that in the future.

As for Walesko as backup LT:

Year 1 should be just focusing on one position, don’t want to overload him early on

Think if they don’t sign anyone, Steele would be the swing and they will put Ball at right tackle

Good lord, I hope not.......I'm guessing it depends if he's short or long-term. But either way, moving Steele creates ???? now at TWO positions. Leave him where he's at ......deal with one position.

Sometimes they only keep 9 OL.
That’s gonna be the issue
You have to really at the talent you have at every position group
Is the talent potential better at one over the other?
You likely will go long at the position group you have an extra guy you think is too good to let walk or risk losing

Jerry stated after drafting Waletzko that we would not be bringing in a veteran swing tackle now.

I know, my thinking is, it's Steele and Ball plays RT. Wal will be more of the developmental guy this yr.

thats what they should do but jerry has said he doesnt like changing 2 positions for an injury
I doubt Wal plays a single snap this yr. Steele has the experience to play either side and Ball with being playing on the right side this year.

Ball has been moved to Right Tackle, he will be competing against Steele to become the starter. Ball was suppose to be a immediate swing tackle option when he was drafted, many thought he was a 2nd rd player that fell due to off the field issues. Both players have the ability to play either side, one will be the team's swing tackle and the other will play right tackle. Cannot see Walesko playing much this season.

Remember the Eagles had this very issue a few years with Lane Johnson. He was actually drafted to replace Jason Peters at LT but played immediately at RT. When Peters went down with a season-ending injury, according to Johnson, their coaches decided they would try Jordan Mailata first coz no sense in creating another opening if you can avoid it. The rest is history as Johnson is still playing RT and Mailata LT. My point is by not moving Steele at least keep your right side together.

I've done about a 180 on this in the last day or so....

I figure if the OL starts breaking down with injuries, if that in itself doesn't ruin the season, Dak probably isn't going to play very well behind an inexperienced OL, or end up hurt himself, so may as well play the kids.

They can't get experience if they don't play.

Also if they had the nuts to start UDFA Steele as a rookie, 4th and/or 5th round guys (that supposedly carried higher grades) should be no problem.

The last two vet swing guys have been kinda bad anyway.

I understand your point, but Steele is the only one with gameday experience at the position. Ball was injured the entire season and needed to get stronger, had very limited reps at the position. Walesko will be practicing as Tyron's backup, but I just don't see him being ready to play this yr. Could be wrong, but many say he is extremely raw and needs a year to add strength.

IF we are talking just a game or two, I'd almost rather kick Tyler outside than move Steele. If it's long-term, then sign a free agent vet off the streets, this is just me but I'm not moving Steele, especially if he playing well. Between him and Martin, I know I can count on my right playing at a high level vs moving him to left, you just trying to survive.

I think Ball at right tackle and Steele at Left Tackle, would be better then Smith and McGovern next yr.

They had no choice but to go with the rookie Steele.
Collins was out for the year with the hip,.. and then converted OG Brandon Knight had to fill in when Tyron and Cam Irving had their bouts with injuries.
