The discussion around trading Diggs will be very real after this season....before if they Cowboys open up falling flat on their faces before the deadline.

Well, if Diggs keeps up the INTs then he'll be worth that money. If not in Dallas then multiple teams would want a guy that can force near double digit INTs, even if he does get beat at times.

And yet fans expect players to remain "loyal" to the team? Not you specifically, but it's the attitude of a lot of fans and then they wonder why players shop for the highest bidder. Because they should.

It's kinda weird...you;d think a salary cap would keep this in some sort of check. I guess it's up to GM/Admin to mete out the dollars appropriately.

Worrying about what to do with Diggs in year 2 is pretty much why Dallas fans get the teams they deserve

Diggs is going to have to continue getting INTs and reduce the number of plays he’s giving up or he maybe cashing in somewhere else. The Cowboys are going to have their hands full trying to sign him and CeeDee. Not to mention Parsons will be looking to break the bank in three years. The Cowboys are going to have to make some big decisions.

It's ALWAYS been up the the GMs to dole it out the way they see fit but players get blamed for what GMs agree to pay somehow. I wouldn't care one lick about how fans perceived me when I negotiated either.

Remember those stories about the salary CAP going up in 2024 because of the new TV contracts? Contracts are going up faster than that CAP increase. If the top positions like WR, QB, DE, etc. all going up $10 to $20 million teams will still struggle to get in under the CAP. Get ready for a new ear in football where teams will try to win with one or two top vets and lots of players on their rookie contracts. We may even see teams get back to running the football because QBs are too expensive.

Jaire Alexander......only played four games in 2021 as a result of a shoulder injury. Five career INT's in a four season career........five.

He's never scored a TD.

Diggs had five INT's by the 2nd game of his 2nd season. He has almost three times as many INT's in two season as Alexander in four.

Alexander made the Pro Bowl in his 3rd season. Diggs made 1st team All Pro and the Pro Bowl in his 2nd.

Based on the Packer's perspective of value, Alexander is worth an average of 21 million a season, How much will Diggs be worth?

Of course, the reality is that a CB's performance is tied into the defense's performance overall but particularly the pass rush. However, agents don't see it that way. Diggs will probably hold out before the 2023 season.

Pro football is becoming like college. You get 2 to 4 good years before you have to let go unless they are seen as so indispensable you have to sacrifice an unproportionate chunk of cap space to keep him. If Diggs comes close to repeating last season he just might be in that category.

Diggs will be worth 2 first round picks which I will take happily rather than pay 22+ million per year

it is keeping it in check. its who gets the money. who gets left overs. smart teams end up winning championships.

so given this, Dallas needs to draft well. really well to be competitive because we never want to pay anyone who maybe really good. a team full of JAGs.

so in a couple of years, Parsons may want $30-35M per year. say bye bye?

players want to sign sooner than later. some teams want to pay sooner than later. why? that means the players gets to the next contract faster...like you said salaries are going up fast....and owners want to pay now, because they know if they wait another year, then its 25M average and not 21M average.
