2023 is year 4. Any extension Diggs gets after year 3 starts in 2024.
We’ve already been through this.

players want to sign sooner than later. some teams want to pay sooner than later. why? that means the players gets to the next contract faster...like you said salaries are going up fast....and owners want to pay now, because they know if they wait another year, then its 25M average and not 21M average.

Yes. Look at Diggs contract now. Write it down. This is before any extension. He'll be getting his extension after this year and none of these numbers will change. His extension will start in 2024.

We’ve already been over it! If you want to keep wasting your time go ahead.
so given this, Dallas needs to draft well. really well to be competitive because we never want to pay anyone who maybe really good. a team full of JAGs.
so in a couple of years, Parsons may want $30-35M per year. say bye bye?
Hey look, you mentioned 2023, not me. Diggs isn't getting a pay raise in 2023.
After this season he can renegotiate, you want start that all over again? All you want to do is argue!
contract extension!? that's getting paid sooner. either your contract runs out and you sign another contract for x number of years. or you sign an extension for x number of years. regardless you are under contract for so many years. players that sign an extension get their bonus sooner than later....so even if his contract did start in 2023 and run through 2026, he got paid today in bonus money. They are not paying sooner. These are contract extensions. Here is a link to this specific player and his contract.

He got a 4 year 84M dollar contract. That will start in 2023, and run through 2026. His 2022 numbers will not change. That's his 5th year option. Extensions do not replace rookie contracts, they extend those contracts.
What they do get right away is the signing bonus and guaranteed money in the future.
He can renegotiate his extension. His base pay is not changing in 2023. He will get his signing bonus in 2023. His new contract, or extension will start in 2024. I'm only arguing because you said more money in 2023. If you meant signing bonus then I apologize.
Jerry might want to...but Does stephen who likes to bargain shop in the basement department of a no name storeI think Jerry is paying both of them. But don't worry, by the time their cap hits actually impact the cap it will be several years down the road. Especially Parsons. The cap will be much higher by then.

I don't believe building through FA. It's signing the right ones to fill gaps you haven't been able to. I don't think the Rams model is sustainable. Now everyone will try and it will dilute the FAs and drive up prices.we have to come to grips with the reality that we are going to “be competitive “ but (barring a miracle) never win a SB while the Joneses are around
there is no way we will be in serious SB contention when we are unwilling to sign any real players in FA at all. Just building through the draft can keep you competitive but that’s it
therefore the Joneses will pay players top dollar only if they can generate greater revenue than that. CB is a devalued position in the current NFL because of the rules and I think Diggs will prove to be a very very good CB but that’s it. I think last year was an anomaly and I don’t think he’s getting more than 5-6 picks again. Parsons looks like he might be a generational player but let’s see how it shakes out

but if GB waited to sign him until after 2023. he may cost heck of a lot more than the 21M average they gave him.......its a win win.
Dude isn't close to being worth that much $$, what a load of bunk.
I gotta wonder just how parsons being on the field effected Digg's success. I'm not saying that Diggs didn't earn a lot himself just by his receiving abilities but i do believe some of them were the result of a QB in duress.Diggs will be worth 2 first round picks which I will take happily rather than pay 22+ million per year

I do think that he has the ability to repeat .that type of season should the defense stay healthy, GW.
You just can't pay a CB that kind of money unless you are absolutely convinced you have everything else. The Cowboys don't..
A trade that nets a hefty batch of high draft picks would be better..
