This is how it starts...we’ve all seen this before. It’s nothing...minor issue, just vet rest, easing into things etc etc....then boom. Retire.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it happened.
I hope not but....

Yeah he has zero trade value at this point. Tyron was my favorite Cowboy and was the best player on this team from 2011-16. But his injuries have caused him to miss 32 games in the last six seasons. Sad, but the truth is, the first ability an NFL player must possess to be valuable is reliability.
He was a beast and I really liked him too! But as a player what soured me was the first sign of a back issue and him not wanting to get it fixed. In the NFL guys with bad backs are on the backside of their career. Tyron has been a stand up dude and done well and Jerry has rewarded him well.

i dont see that at all.
when healthy...he still plays at an all-pro level.

Then we’re seeing it differently because I don’t see him playing at an “All Pro” level anymore. When he’s healthy, which is not very often he’s still a very good player but not what he was.

That’s too big of a swing for 2nd most important position on offense.

Also do you think he is partially being lazy with years of coddling with every little knick?
Well for years he put off surgery so I guess it has finally caught up. As a person that has had a few surgeries, you only go under the knife when you have too.

I think it’s time for Tyron to retire and let the rookies Tyler Smith & Matt Waletzko take many reps as possible at LT.

Here’s where fans are saying we should move on, then moan that we lost talent when we actually do.

He’s signed thru 2023 and he will most likely be here till the 2023 season is over

Sorry, my mistake. Doesn't change my opinion. I do not think he will retire this year. Maybe next if the Cowboys find a suitable replacement.

I don't get why people think the Cowboys don't need Tyron because they have two rookie OTs and a 2nd year OT who hasn't played a down yet. For all we know they all suck. Maybe they are all super stars. Great, but right now we have no evidence of that.

I am sure they will all gets some starting experience in the preseason this year so they can be evaluated because I am pretty sure Tyron won't be playing much.

Well I would like to get one more year out of him so he can help Tyler Smith learn left tackle.

You do know how to start a thread.
They called Howard Stern the shock jock, but you might have raised the bar.

In all honesty I have been wanting Dallas to trade him when he was worth something. The Patriots would of gotten rid of him 5 years ago. He is worse than Zeke when it comes to value.
Yup. I posted the same bout 3 years ago and was called an idiot for wanting to trade our hall of fame tackle when his value was high and teams were desperate for an LT. Lol

I think smith plays till his contract end which is after next season
The kids will gets reps in camp and likely in games this year
I think smith plays more this year than many think but I’d work the rookies in when you have games that aren’t as hard at LT than others. They are the future so reps is key. Personally I’d keep rookie smith at guard because I don’t think teaching two positions to a rookie is a good idea. They obviously think it will be fine. I’d have Ball and Wally the rookie playing a ton in camp and see who’s likely to be the best backup and if neither look ready I’d bring in a vet
14-15 games from smith is better than anyone is gonna be as his replacement. He gave up 2 sacks last year which is pretty dang good play at LT.

I'm not one to pretend Smith isn't an absolute injury waiting to happen and fully expect him to miss games this year, but what a moronic statement. I'm assuming a troll looking for shock value? This team with Tyron is much better than without and even worse you think two rookies who have never even put on pads in the NFL should be the solution?
Dak_Attack_09, most annoying poster on this board. So many useless, meaningless posts. Thank God for the ignore feature.

Every little nick. It’s nick, not Knick. He’s not an NBA player from a terrible squad in NY. And why don’t you try going out and manhandling 300+ linemen with a back injury. Let us know how it works out for you, you ignorant $&*#.

Because hopefully the forums are a true cross sectional sampling of society, it would mean they are the dumb ones....
