The Cowboys will have handled this correctly if they don’t extend Schultz at retail. They picked up his clone successor in Ferguson so we we should be good in 2023.

There are many exceptions but I firmly believe most good TEs can be made.

I suspect the Cowboys may let him stay on the tag for the season to (a) see how Schultz performs one more year, and/or (b) to see if Ferguson & McKeon show enough to think they can handle the job in 2023.

Schultz won’t be re-signed unless he wins MVP. Diggs or Pollard are likely to require the franchise tag next off-season and Schultz isn’t worth a huge 5 year deal.

Tongue in cheek…my point is they haven’t built the team to accommodate a high priced TE unless he’s a superstar.
