I was wondering when someone was going to post about this. I am generally a "just deal with announcers whether you particularly like them or not" ..... but looking at or listening to him .... that would be a no go for me!!

I heard that he did a good job with USFL games, not that I watched any of them. And maybe he's found his true calling....it certainly wasn't coaching. I will be listening for phrases like "it's a process" and "that's COACH Garrett."

Don't know what his contract would be, but as an analyst in a prime time broadcast every week he could make more than he did as a head coach. By a lot.

I agree. He was always a great talker. He should go with what he’s good at. It’s a great time to get into broadcasting.
Yep.

He says a whole lot of nothing in a monotone, long winded, but articulate kind of way.

I can fully see how he buffaloed Jerry for 15 years, and also see why players tuned him out before all that long.

My eye twitches involuntarily every time I see his name for some reason.

Perfect role for him. Garrett is super likable, can speak to football in very general terms to the public, will give you the coach speak that casual fans will love, but isn’t too far removed from the game.

Better “football guy” than game day coach.

Surprised to see him getting this job .
what can he possibly add with any credibility ? a failed washed out ex coach and ex OC who got fired recently. What would he say that would have any credibility . ?
The guy went 87-70 as a head coach in the league. Just because he isn’t bill belichick doesn’t mean he brings zero credibility. He’s literally in the top 1% of football people in the world.

Well, that means a good chunk of this board is in the top .005% cause we knew he was full of bunk very early on and could out coach him on any given day.

In all seriousness, associating him with the top of football knowledge is a crime against football knowledge. Self marketing, brown nosing, avoiding blame, yes. Football, no.
