That’s not just country, that’s all music today. LOL

And also, having recently spent a week in Nashville. Highly overrated. Cover band city.

Not much different than 6th Street in Austin.

Yes, there are some that still write their own music. Those are usually established bands though like Styx (who released an album last year that is fantastic), Tears For Fears (who I saw two weeks ago who mentioned they released their first album recently in 17 years), and Rammstein. A lot of the modern music though is prewritten though, which is a shame. This artificially written music from others and autotune really takes away from the art of making really good music. I mean, it's a shame too because some singers who are highly acclaimed for music on digital can't sing their way out of a paper bag when they are live. That's one of the reasons I like musicians like MeatLoaf (who I saw I think 4-5 times in concert), Styx, Air Supply, Tears for Fears, and others. Those singers really put their hearts and souls into the live performances. Unfortunately, the only live MeatLoaf performances now will be on YouTube, but he was one of the most amazing live performing musicians I saw. His concerts were always top notch because he was interacting with the crowd, and it felt like we were all apart of the music.

Some people could pull it off though. MeatLoaf, my favorite musician, was an example. He wrote some songs, but most of what he sang was written by Him Steinmann (though, MeatLoaf did influence what was written). MeatLoaf could pull it off because he had one of the most incredible vocal ranges I know of short of Freddie Mercury. Oh, and his singing style was very catchy.
Yes...like I said...of course there are artist who almost exclusively use other writers. Jim Steinman is awesome by the way. A bit...odd....:D ...but I don;t think there'd be a Meatloaf without Jim.

Beatles started their career with covers. Elvis wrote very little. It's all good. Extra kudos wo the guys, especially country guys and gals...who write and perform with their own real band.

Todays country music is filled with "attractive" people singing other peoples songs.

Almost every hit on mainstream country radio you can find recording of the real writer singing them in some smoky bar in Nashville years before someone like Luke Bryan made the song famous.

Chris Stapleton is a perfect example. There are plenty of mainstream artist that made it big from songs Stapleton wrote (Luke Bryan famously one of them), and even though he has more talent in his pinky then they have in their whole body, he unforntunetley didn't have "the look". He eventually made it because his talent was undeniable thank goodness.
Wifey loves her some Chris Stapleton.

Oh fur sure. Jim made a lot of bands popular too. There also wouldn't be a Bonnie Tyler without Jim. My point was, if you have a Jim Steinmann to write your music, that's one thing. But otherwise, it's usually best when, like Iron Maiden or Rammstein, you can write great music.

I also would argue there wouldn't be a Jim Steinmann without MeatLoaf. Jim could write, but MeatLoaf was the perfect artist to bring the story Jim was trying to convey to music. Also, MeatLoaf's skills as an actor helped with his ability to do that. He had a few different outfits he would wear on stage.

Has Bill Belichick attended concerts with any of his players?
So Dak is a Kenny Chesney fan or was this just a P.R. event?
I'm sure all the "WE DEM BOYZ" sheep fans ate it up.
I wonder if my Boos would've been drowned out?
Last concert Belichick attended was Up with People at college in 1972

I'm curious why you would you care enough to boo.

Global sales and downloads are usually the first sign of corporate shtty music.

Nope!! They've been measuring success by global sales for decades. There's a difference between selling albums in the south and midwest compared to selling albums all over the whole country and in multiple countries globally.

Now the downloads are another streaming avenue to even more money. Hip Hop produces the biggest stars IN music GLOBALLY!! Numbers dont lie. So again, the music i listen to is apparently much better compared to other music, just based off of global demand alone.

Ah...so if all the lemmings listen to something, that makes it better?

Good to know.

Nah... the lemmings are better suited for that "other music". It doesn't make music better or worse because thats up to the individual, but people from all walks of life from the richest to the poorest, black, white, brown, etc, all different languages listen to the music Ive grown up with since it started. In every country and continent there's Hip Hop and Hip Hop artists.

I can't say i know everything, but i dont believe there are platinum selling country music artists in every country globally. Not saying country music is bad, but it never had the global impact on many cultures around the world on the level Hip Hop has. Not even close.

I like a few country music songs but some of it its straight garbage imo. With that said, i love Hip Hop, but there is also some songs that are straight garbage.

Britney Spears, 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Taylor Swift...all big sellers. You think their music is great?

They are all pretty good artists in their own right and have all had major success, so apparently they done something right during their run. I don't believe they were classified as country music artists were they??? I stand to be corrected of course.

I'm not defending Country Music...i really don't care that much. I used to call it straight trash etc until i lived in Nashville and was exposed to it. Yes, total garbage a lot of it, but there are some of the most talented singers in music in it as well.

It is like R&B with a twang and no expletives. This is coming from someone who used to absolutely love hip hop and R&B....now most is unlistenable to me.

Essentially, Jim Steinmann was to MeatLoaf what Jimmy Johnson was to Jerry Jones.

Whatever. You think "popular" always means "good music". Simply not true.

I don't dispute "sales". And of course "good music" is subjective. That is exactly why I stand by my statement. Britney Spears is popular, you might even consider the recordings "good". It doesn't mean it's as worthy musically as Beethoven.

Man that could have potentially been bad if McCarthy wanted to crowd surf.

Im not looking at "popular", im looking at how the hip-hop culture has dominated the world. I remember there was a time music critics said hip-hop was just a faze and that it wouldn't last.

But 40+ years later, it is still on top by miles.
