If Schultz holds out mini-camp and gets fined, do we gain cap relief?

If Schultz holds out mini-camp (and potentially games) and gets fined , do we gain CAP relief, or is the CAP worked out purely on the original contract?
Fine the hell out of this dude if he doesn't show up for ANY CAMP! I'm sick and tired of athletes who think it's okay not to show up to work because they believe they are worth more money. If one of us decided that we wanted more money from our employer because we out work our co-workers and not show up to the job, I'll bet we'd be fired on the spot. Schultz probably dropped to his knees when Jerry drafted and signed him to a 5 yr contract and because he's had a couple of good years he thinks he deserves bank????????? Try showing up and working harder and then maybe, just maybe you'll be rewarded!

I would be surprised if Schultz holds out of mini camp. He signed his franchise tag and understands DLaw and Dak were also tagged. I doubt he wants to do anything that could possibly hinder his development entering this upcoming season. He’s going to need another real good season if he wants to get paid.
He is also rich with this tag.

It shouldn’t have changed their draft. They knew offensive linemen and defensive end were pressing needs. There were other options to improve the tight end spot…..i would’ve much rather have had Oj Howard and go with him Mckeon and Sprinkle.
Of course it would have changed the draft.

He isn't skipping anything that is required.

Do you know him personally ?
Truth is neither of us know what he is going to do.
Skipping the OTA's is not a good sign.
Why are you so optimistic ?
I hope you are right btw.:)

I know that he isn't holding out, he signed the tag, and he isn't going to miss anything that is required. I'm optimistic because the Cowboys are good and are favored to win the division. I like what they are doing with getting as many young players as possible going forward. I like it regardless of what happens. The Cowboys have a good team no matter what the negative people say. Missing a couple of optional OTA isn't bad and signing the tag is good.

He’ll be a lot richer if he plays well under the tag which is why I doubt he’ll miss anything mandatory.
He has absolutely no reason to miss anything that is required.

It’s certainly not going to do him any good if he does. He might as well accept the fact that he’s going to have to play under the tag this season.

We will see.
Its still a bad look skipping the OTA's.

He would be crazy to hold out.
He is a poor blocker and yet is getting a hefty salary.
If a back up such as Ferguson has a strong camp, the Cowboys may just move on from him.
He’s gonna get much more next year
No player likes being tagged because while it’s great money, it comes with great risk for them. They get injured they can lose millions. But in the end the vast majority show up when they have to and do their job

Agreed, it's in his best interest to show up, play well and earn a big contract.

I figured that would irritate someone lol.

Maybe you'd be surprised how easy it is to forget a check down for four yards during the course of any particular game, then at the end of the season its...'wow! 78 catches! He's great.'

I'm almost tempted to settle this once and for all by breaking down every contested catch vs those anyone could make....and exactly how many he set up himself by whiffing on a run block on a prior play.

On the flip side, the guy has gotten better every year he has been here, and I understand why they tagged him this year.

As fans of the team, we all need to be rooting for Ferguson to be able to start next year and we don't need to pay Schultz big money......as in maybe retaining Parsons AND Diggs eventually, and not just Parsons as one potential example.

Pretty sure this topic is exhausted by now but....here I am. It's Kool aid season again and I'm thirsty!

If it is so damn easy to just catch 80 balls and 8 TDs.... youd figure every team would have a guy that was close to that , right? And im not talking about the studs on the teams, im talking about a 3rd or 4th option on a team. I mean, surely the Seahawks should have had a DUMP OFF guy that has 75 plus catches, right?

Not really up for arguing with ya sir, but out TEs stats are a lot more about our QB and his tendencies than the TE himself.

He signed it immediately which makes no sense for him to hold out of anything mandatory.
I don’t think he will hold out
Can’t really blame a guy for holding out of voluntary stuff when he’s risking millions of dollars
But he will be in camp

He's not risking being fined. It's $50K per day and it can no longer be waived. So that negates the need to ask your question.
