I was reading the thread about how the gap in the NFCE is closing, so I thought it'd be fun to predict how you think it will play out in 2022. I guess we can make it a contest of sorts, except nobody wins anything.

How will the NFCE rank?

What will be the record for each team?

I'm going with:

Cowboys 11-6
Washington 10-7
Eagles 8-9
Giants 6-11

Eagles and Cowboys battle to the end for division. Eagles won 9 games last year and have a better roster and a really easy schedule, especially early. They are likely going to stack wins early before they face some of their tougher games (which aren't that many). So I don't think one can count on the Eagles regressing and not winning at least 9-10 games.

My gut says 12 wins needed to win the division.

I just don't think Jalen Hurts is going to threaten many teams — not even with Amanda Brown.

They won't be a real threat until they finally switch QBs and give Strong a shot, which I predict will happen sooner rather than later for the Eagles. They are trying to cop the Cowboys and pull off a Tony Romo, and landed Carson Strong as an UDFA.

Aside from Matt Corrall, Strong may have been the best QB in the class, very similar to how Romo was overlooked in his class. But Strong has medical reasons for that.

As a Cowboy fan, I'd have much more respect for the Eagles team as a threat if they were planning on giving Strong the nod. But to my knowledge, they intend on rolling with Hurts.

Anyway, if Strong can stay healthy, look out. Dude has the it factor. Tough as nails. Scrappy, reminds me of a skinnier Peyton Manning.

By the way, if you think I'm being a hater, even Eagles fans themselves will tell you that Hurts sucks, and cannot beat the Cowboys defense.

A few of them are actually calling for Strong, after we spank them in the first half of game 2. lol

They won 9 games last year with a mediocre Hurts. The roster is better this year. They also have a really easy schedule. Unless you think Hurts is gonna actually regress, their floor is likely 9 wins. Even if Hurts is the same as last year, with that schedule and an improved roster, 10-11 wins is doable. Hence why I think 12 is the magic number for us if we want to guarantee another division title.

You know, I don't like to call out anyone, but
You do like to prop the Eagles.

You propped them last year.
You propped how they do business.

I followed how several attacked you as being an Eagles fan and I abstained then.

And now here you are again.

After the Cowboys completely obliterated the Eagles last year twice.

I read you defending yourself several times from even last year propping the Eagles to other posters and I never said anything.

How paranoid of the Eagles are you?
This seems pretty serious.

What we did to them last year is meaningless. Rosters are different. The Eagles improved in the offseason, adding legitimate proven players. We have taken a much riskier approach banking on rookies and has beens like Fowler to fill large roles and make immediate impacts.

Their schedule is a joke this year, especally early. They won 9 games last year with a mediocre Hurts and riding a soft schedule and likely can do the same this year. Hurts isn't gonna light the world on fire but if he could get them 9 wins last year, he can probably get them at least that in 2022 (obviously assuming health factors, etc).

You'll also note nowhere did I say they will win the division this year. I said I think if we want to win it, 12 games is probably the safe total. I think Philly can get to 10-11 wins largely because their schedule is laughable and they can pack on some wins early against some really bad teams.

I enjoy your tepid defense.
I'm not accusing of anything.
Just reporting what happened.

1) I didn't prop them last year. I didn't think Hurts was all that good. I did give them credit down the stretch as I said they could make a run given their schedule was a joke the 2nd half of the year (and it was). They went 6-2 down the stretch largely beause they feasted on the Jets and WFT and Giants in like a 5 week stretch.

Under the right system (Jalen out of the pocket, throwing 20-25 times a game, and Sanders having a good season and actually being utilized. They can definitely make it to 11 wins imo.

I don't make predictions so early.
I can say 11-6 and then Dak goes down in TC.

No point right now except to take the temperature of fans' optimism.
This is where I’m at. These guys haven’t even put on pads yet, we haven’t seen the new players against real opponents…it’s waaaaaaay too early for me to have anything other than blind hope.

I will say this though…this team hasn’t made the playoffs in back to back seasons in 15 years. And the last time this team won the East back to back was ‘95-‘96. I’m seeing all these confident predictions that this team is going to win 10-12 games and “easily” win the East. I don’t know what this team is capable of yet but I’m very sure my knowledge of this team’s history and who still runs this organization prevents me from having any confidence.

This guy is smart right here.
