What draft picks would you give up for Sean Payton?

I have read that two 1st would be the starting point. Would you go for that?

None, The man wants to get away from the game at this point. Once he is ready to return if Cowboys are looking then Payton can be had for nothing but at this stage he is looking for a break from the game. It is not a bidding war of who gives the saints the most, there is another party involved who has say of when he will return and who he will return for.

Eagles won a Superbowl...ookkk then

Don't you get tired of being wrong all the time?
are you talking about yourself ? you are consistently wrong and too optimistic about fake stars and coaches, the results speak for themselves. stop being too gullible and buying into the hype. this team has been mediocre since 1996 . unless you like it that way.

Payton went 7-9 3 years in a row with a HOF QB. Compare road and home stats for that offense. Playing in the Superdome gives an unreal advantage.

He thought Taysom Hill was a viable NFL QB. Even Belichick is showing warts without Brady. Unless your team is fully loaded, giving away picks for a coach is a bad idea.
all teams have bad patches , but his last 5 years he averaged like 11 wins a season .
Bottom line don;'t you agree he is a much better coach than MM ? many experts think so . Remember , MM got fired and sat at home a year and convinced jerry he is a SB coach

I actually felt that last season was one of Payton best as a HC. He had 3 poor QB he had to deal with and Kamara missed time last season and the saints remained in the playoff race until the end.

Nothing. Not even a conditional 7th.

We already have a guy with the exact same resume. I'm not interested in playing the fan scapegoat blame game over and over again for going on 30 years now.

He is very dynamic and gets the most out of his players. MM got away with so much already , a disastrous opening season for him which was swept under the rug due to the Covid excuse blah blah, So pathetic.
Then last season the team lost all games they were not favored in , and lost some head scratchers and the debacle at home in the playoffs. But the music continues and will continue under the current GM who may feel uncomfortable brining in a coach who the fans may give credit for the wins.

I think Injury played a big part in McCarthy 1st season not just losing starting QB but injuries long the OL. His 2nd season as HC showed a 12-5 season and I do expect more from him and this team. I'm not looking to play musical HC, I would just as soon see McCarthy lead this team to a SB. Should he fail then and this team not make post season this year I would expect a change but I have always felt you hire a HC you give him a legit opportunity if not you will end up going through a lot of coaches with little results

Also, if we gave Garrett 9-10 years, we should at least give Mike another two seasons so he can have 3 legitimate seasons before we have to worry about that. Unless this season is a total disaster of course.

I do see a difference in that McCarthy was hired to win now. For the most part you hire a HC you give him 4 to 5 year contract, if you are not seeing progress within that 1st 3 to 4 years then you start looking to replace him. For McCarthy I think this is a big season for him, he has to show that this team can take the next step it can't be a situation where you are taking 1 step forward then 1 step back. This franchise has not been to the post season in back to back years in a long time and I do think anything less than a trip to post season and advancement in post season will very likely be the end for McCarthy. I'm pulling for the guy but I do think when he was hired it was with the win now view point

A 3rd and 4th round at best as someone has already said well, with the way Stephen depends so valiantly on draft picks alone to carry and build on this team
and hopefully that 3rd and 4th rounder is a compensatory pick at that.

But what if Saints bulk at that offer and insist on much higher round draft picks, and multiple ones at that ?

The Saints are gonna call our bluff ,, we're gonna fold our cards if we really coveted Payton that badly.

What is it that the Payton fans think he will do that McC can't do?

Why do you think he walked away from NO, making over 50% more than Booger has ever paid a HC?

Have you really looked closely at the situation any HC faces in Dallas? Do you think the owner is changing for Payton?

I wonder how the owner feels about him now. He left them with Hill and Winston as their QB's. If I am her, I want draft picks to fix that.

I agree, but I think he should be given a mulligan for 2020. I mean, we'd have been lucky to get 2 wins under Garrett in those circumstances.

I don't think they give mulligans. lol I get your points but again this team was 12-5 last season and I think they will have to get to post season and advance. Having said that I'm not as focused on the final record of 12-5, this team could go 10-7 or 11-6 get to post season and advance and would mean more to me that the reg season record.

Oh, same here. Advancing in the postseason is the next part of the....can't believe I'm going to say this...process.

If she is anything near a business tycoon, she'd get with her key executives and operatives and compile the best deal and package for the Saints club, instead
of trying to make it personal and getting back at Sean or Jerry..

i can see the Saints being among the very worse teams next year. Especially when Winston goes down again.
But if i'm not mistaken, the Eagles (of all teams!) now have the Saints 1st round pick next year ..

is it personal? Is it Payton no longer wants to coach or wants a break? If it’s personal and he wants to coach it would be stupid not to get something for him. He’s not coming back to coach her team. If I were her I may have a bit of an issue if he’d be coaching within my division, but I doubt that would have much impact because he’d be going to a poor team who just fired their coach most likely.
