*quote* For his part, Dorsett has always maintained that the epic gallop wasn't the best of his career, often citing a 5-yard run vs. St. Louis on Nov. 24, 1983.

"It was just a sweet run," Dorsett says. "And I made some people miss. I ran in for a touchdown, but it was like it was on this island … and it just looked like I was going to get crushed. But I made it. I don't know how I did it, but I made a move. I made this linebacker look pretty silly. And I ended up walking into the end zone untouched." *unquote*

Do we agree that this was Dorsett's greatest run?

I....don't see a thing..

The video is too grainy to really decipher what you're seeing. That must be top of the line color t.v. for the time, though, so our eyes are probably just spoiled. lol

He must be talking about the run against the Cardinals where he went one way, then completely reversed field and went the other way and scored a touchdown. It was a short run but a great run. It may be on the video that was posted I didn’t watch it in its entirety. However I thought that run happened St. Louis.

I think Sullivan (article author) got the wrong game.

Yeah I think that’s the wrong game. The run happened against St. Louis but it was in St. Louis. It was a short run where he reversed field and scored a TD. I’ve been trying to locate it on YouTube.

What makes Tony Dorsett special is his ACCELERATION!
It has been 45 years since Dorsett was a rookie. I have yet to see another running back that can go from 0-60 mph faster than Dorsett.

This run against the Cardinals on Thanksgiving of 1983 was a great example of his acceleration. However, I believe his 1985 run against the Falcons was his greatest run. He took a side step after his handoff, planted his foot, and zinged right through the Atlanta defense like they weren't even there. It is just incredible.

That is not this run. It is this run...

Dorsett's running vision was extraordinary.

Go to the :33 mark of this clip. This is the one he's talking about.

Yes that is more like it.
Here is a quote about that play.
*quote*
If you want one play that best illustrates what Tony Dorsett can do on a football field, you could go with a run he made off left tackle last year against St. Louis. The ball was on the Cardinals' four-yard line. The right defensive end was crashing down, the right linebacker was filling, the two corners were blitzing, and Dorsett was heading full steam into what was essentially a cup of defenders. Suddenly he pivoted on his right foot and stepped straight back out of the hole, turning 360 degrees. The two corners, Roger Wehrli and Carl Allen, collided headfirst at the exact spot where Dorsett had been an instant before. Dorsett swung wide around the left end, and though hemmed in by the safety, somehow outran him for a touchdown. The play lasted only a few seconds, but during it five defenders knew they were going to tackle Dorsett, yet none of them even touched him.

if u have time watch the game..
this isnt a bad game to see what our defense under Landry was like vs the mess we've put on the field last few years. Its also a way to see White qbing for people that never saw him in action (his names been coming up a lot lately).
when ur watching u see the domination we had/expected on both sides weekly against any team that wasnt in the top tier.
