Cowboys & Cardinal: Emmitt Smith Son E.J. Has 'NFL Future'
E.J Smith enters his junior year at Stanford with expectations that only the son of an NFL legend can earn
As Smith heads into his junior season this fall, longtime Stanford coach David Shaw says the son of the NFL's all-time leading rusher will soon be one of the best running backs in the country.

“Over the next two years, he’ll be one of the best backs in America,” Shaw said during a recent PFF Twitter Space.

“E.J.’s ready,” Shaw said on the Pac-12 Network. “He’s ready to be the guy. He’s a complete running back. He’s got receiver skills that we saw last year. He’s got return skills. This guy’s an NFL back. He’s a pass protector. So anything he can do, he can do at a high level. So this is going to be a breakout year for him as well.”

He hasn't done much yet in his college career so we'll see. It would be interesting to see him in Dallas.

Saw him in High School and thought he would be converted to WR. He was always taller than Emmitt so he must have added the strength and weight to go with good speed. Glad to hear he is a pass protector like his father. That means he can run, block, and catch. You do that well and you can be in the NFL.

RB is in the blood not only his father, but uncle and grandfather played semi pro at +40 years old.

I have no doubt every word of that is true.

Stanford isn't on here very much so I'm not sure I will have a chance to see him. I hope they get a national feed game.
