Thanks to Kyle Williams.

Aint that the truth. Because I hate the 49ers I was happy they didn't get to go that that Super Bowl.. but what are the odds a guy fumbles a punt to setup the tying FG to send the game into OT then muffs one in OT to set up the game winner. Poor kid never recovered from that. And he had amazing talent. You know who else never really recovered from those gaffes? Alex Smith. By rights he should have led the 49ers to the Super Bowl that year (and probably never lost his job to Kaepernick). He was the Heartbreak Kid of QBs in the playoffs.. All 5 of his career playoff losses were by 7 points or less, including 2 one pointers and another two pointer. Alex Smith 7 points from a 6-1 playoff record and at least one Super Bowl appearance. That's right.. he lost 4 games by a combined 7 points. Unreal.

Dak 's performance wasn't mediocre....let's stop it lol.

Yeah Dak has had one mediocre season in the NFL.. I think it was 2018.. And even that season he was only mediocre for the first half until we traded for Coop.. and the rest of the year he was easily a top 5 performer. You could argue that maybe 2017 qualifies as well but that team was built around Zeke and when Zeke was snatched away in the middle of the season neither Dak nor anyone else on the Cowboys was ready for it. And it showed. But from about middle of 2018 on Dak has been at worst a fringe top 10 QB. And there has been stretches where he was top 2 or 3. Even Kurt Warner and a bevy of so called experts said as much when he started off 2021 on fire. No doubt the calf injury changed all that. He would never admit it but that's fine. I have eyes and I could see he was not the same guy after the calf as he was before. Maybe it was all mental. I don't know.. but he played differently and the results were different.

Eli kept failing miserably in that game, and kept getting bailed out by some rare stuff.

Eli and Alex are pretty close to the same level of QB.

The problem is, Jerry keeps thinking if he gives him enough weapons and builds the O enough, he will be top 3. This is why Jerry is not a "football guy", he has no comprehension of the workings/nuances of the game.

Serious question: Do you believe that had he not suffered the setback with the calf that Dak would or would not have continued to play at a top 5 level all of 2021 and ended the season among the top 5 MVP vote getters? I ask this because up until the turf monster bit Dak in New England Jerry was being proven right. But I have to agree it wasn't about "weapons." It was about how well Dak was playing the game.. He was spreading the ball around to anybody and everybody and his command of the offense was borderline Jedi. That guy never came back after the calf injury.. I hope we get him back this season.. and I pray he stays healthy all year so we can see if indeed that's the real Dak or if the post-calf injury Dak is the real one. For the record I think the first guy is who we can expect to see. In fact I have a really good feeling about Dak heading into this season. I couldn't begin to tell you why.. but my gut is telling me we're in for a treat this year.

I just wish we had one.

Packers have had two elite qbs for 40 years and only 2 rings in that time. I’d rather take my chances having an elite TEAM with a good qb. We have the good qb just need the team now.

No way to know, obviously, but I don't think so. Reasoning: Dak has been erratic like that his entire career, playing at an extremely good level, and then at an extremely bad level.

The calf injury was a factor, no doubt but it just doesn't completely explain how bad he was after coming back. It made no sense to me then and still doesn't. I mean, yeah, a dropoff could be expected, but not like this, Ron. It was night and day. We're talking Rex Grossman erratic here.

I do not know what to think this year.

Dak is a average of course….

A good team culture, coach, owner and players can mesh together to create the perfect storm and win a Super Bowl ….

The question is…..is Dallas that team

I know you weren't asking me, but I would say no. But I can't know for sure. I'm saying no because after the Denver game he had no problem throwing for just shy of 300 yards and 2 TDs against Atlanta. Then the Calf injury comes back against KC? No. In the 2nd half the competition got tougher. People talk about 1st half 2nd half as if the Cowboys are playing the same team every week.

That calf. "injury" has to be the most overblown overrated excuse I have seen for any player in this forum. He was completely healed and ready to play in a few short weeks

Beating up on scrub teams by having the NFL's 2nd easiest schedule and facing nfc East teams 6 times hardly makes a case for MVP. Critical thinking and perspective have to be utilized.....the Broncos and Niners deballed our "MVP" quite easily

You must suck at math. The Packers are doing better than us. 2 elite QBs in 40 years averages to one every 20 years which is better than we are averaging.

There aren't enough elite quarterbacks to go around which is why you do not overpay a run of the mill quarterback. Dine out over a quarterback's rookie contract and then move on if they aren't elite/top tier QB

How many rings does that average out to? Somebody definitely sucks at math but its not me. Guess elite QBs are only good for 1 ring per career :lmao2:

We aren't talking about rings. Way to pay attention to the thread topic. I believe the discussion was about elite QBs.

The only cat among the elites of today that has won rings at a steady clip is Brady.

The elites of today are:

Rodgers
Mahomes
Allen
Brady

Justin Herbert isn't elite. Neither is Russell Wilson, Joe Burrow, or Matt Stafford.

So Matthew Stafford is suddenly an elite QB? For 12 years he languished in Detroit but in your pea brain SB win = Elite QB. :lmao:

Raise the player min salary to a million and you don’t have this problem where a guy gets 100m and some dude 4 years out of college is at 200k.

Brady for sure is elite. Can’t deny rogers because of his past body of work. Mahomes is really good and won a SB. Allen not so sure.

Just not a lot of elite players and for some it takes years to distinguish. Put a great team together and most good qb can win a SB. Brady though is next level.
