In the NFL once you get passed the top 4-6 Elite HOF caliber QB’s the rest of the league has to build around what’s left. There’s never going to be enough Elite QB’s to fill 32 teams .

The good news is there is usually another 10-15 QB’s good enough to build around you can win with and contend for the playoffs with. And that’s really all you can hope for .

There is simply not enough Elite QB’s coming out in the draft every year to position yourself to try and land one if you don’t have one . They only come around ever so often. And even if you do land one it’s not a guarantee while it of course does make it easier to build around .

And why it’s silly to bash your QB if he’s near the middle to upper half of the league . This is what most teams have to work with.

Yes, teams can make it to the Super Bowl with QBs in that 8 to 16 range and occasionally win it.

Were any of these QBs top 5?
  • Winning QB
    • Jim McMahon
    • Phil Simms
    • Doug Williams
    • Jeff Hostetler
    • Mark Rypien
    • Trent Dilfer
    • Brad Johnson

One of those crucial and timely throws was a completely awful throw that got saved by an amazing against-the-helmet catch by Tyree. One in a million. Eli was very lucky at times.
Aye…im all for calling it luck when it happens once…..but he did it twice…..

The killer problem with Dak is because he lacks confidence in his accuracy, panics, and doesn't see the field well, he doesn't even take his chances when you absolutely need your. QB to make a high pressure throw. Instead he slides to end season, checks down, plays it safe, etc. Consequently you don't even have a chance with Dak unless you luck into a historically great defense. At least some of the other middle of the road guys take a chance. Some of them are also capable of playing under max pressure at least at times. We get none of that with Dak.

He has 68% completion rate the accuracy statement is a myth.

How many of those winning quarterbacks were paid Elite Money for mediocre performance?

Ours is …….and that my friend is the crux of the debate

Because it's "Dak" we should now embrace mediocrity at QB!!!!
This is the logic of a Dak Lover........A single player over the Cowboys!!!

It's much more likely find an elite QB than it is to field an elite defense.

I'd rather look for 1 guy that can lead your team to victories with a good defense instead looking for 5 or 6 guys all playing elite together to make up for the QB's deficiencies.

You think finding an elite QB is hard? It's 10x harder to field an elite defense.

There could be as many as 3 or 4 elite QBs in the NFL at once, but an actual true elite defense don't come around very often.
Dak Troll.

Broncos and Niners neutered him last season…….good defenses have a way of doing that.

With all the “elite” guys, we still had Stafford vs. Burrows in the only game that mattered.

Dak is a top 10 QB, no doubt. Closer to 10 than 1, which I think most people acknowledge.

Most fans would agree he shouldn’t have received Elite money. That’s on our owner for mismanaging the situation,

He knew he wanted Dak. Could have extended him early on and paid him more in the 30 million range.

And about where he is paid now. Tied for 6th or 7th at last look.

Our owner could have resigned him much earlier like after year 2 or 3 of his rookie contract. Most likely in 30 million range. Remember initially he wanted what Russell was making at 35 when he was highest paid.

But our owner waited around playing to public perception and criticism hoping Dak would prove himself to be more deserving of Elite contract when he knew he wanted him anyway.

In the end it cost us much more than it should have.
