Oooh, look! Christian Barmore was used as a NT lined up over Center many timed last year.

Yes, he played at DT most times, but other times, he got played as a NT.

No wonder NE was 22nd against the run.

Barmore is not a NT. He'll have huge leverage issues if played there a lot. Godchaux was the starting NT for NE last season. Barmore was a rotational player as a rook, prolly played NT on 3rd down when teams go w/ their pass rush package which often includes two UT's.

High risk...high reward pick.

Typical Cowboys 2nd round pick. Hoping he clears the legal things and matures physically and mentally in year 2.

I haven’t heard any bad stuff about his on-field stuff from the coaches and team. I know they like to protect their own but even the coaches let things slip out about Trysten Hill for example.

Dan Quinn and McCarthy have praised him in his offseason work. And they gave him props last year as he worked back from his injury about his focus and preparation. Feels weird that it would be the exact opposite as why would they be that effusive if they didn’t mean it?

This Bobby guy could very well be right, but I’d like to see a little more from other media or coaches before going with this.

A little recap of what he did when he played last year:

“The 44th overall pick in 2021 got his first career start in Week 16 against the Washington Football Team, and he didn’t disappoint. Joseph played 57 snaps and registered three tackles and a pass breakup while allowing minus two yards on five targets in the Cowboys’ 56-14 victory.

Joseph logged 150 snaps in the final three games after just 14 in the first seven he played. He displayed the sticky coverage skills that made him one of the top cornerbacks coming out of the college ranks and even showed he can provide support against the run.”

When he played he was good. Yes it was against bad teams but he did what he was supposed to do. If that was him with bad practice habits I wonder what we’re gonna get with good habits lol.

I really don't care much for what Bobby Belt has to say!..I'll wait and pass judgement on what kind of player Joseph will become, until the latter half of the season...If he plays...I do expect him to play well!

While this may be true, Bobby Belt has a HUGE agenda. Dude essentially runs a semi pro smear campaign against the Jones boys.
As if that's difficult. The Jones boys smear themselves almost daily.

He's shown over and over for years that football means nothing to him.

Davon Godchaux is the Patriots' NT. He's a strong run defender. Barmore lining up at the NT spot does not make him an NT any more than Lawrence lining up inside makes him a DT.

Lining up over Center means what?

It means that you are trying real hard to not admit that you were wrong. Barmore is not a monster NT, like you initially said, even if he lines up over center on occasion. It's OK to be wrong. I'm sure I'll give you plenty of chances to point out when I'm wrong.

Joseph seemed like a panic pick. After losing out on Surtain and Horn they wanted to show that they had other options at the position.

Anytime a player has an outside interest from football as a rookie that should be a red flag. I mean, the guy is playing football for a college so I'm assuming that comes with a little academic work. That's tough enough while playing football but he started a rap career as well/? What did he sacrifice in order to concentrate on rap?

Then you throw in the fact that he was literally the youngest player drafted that year....what could possibly go wrong?

I'm sorry, but who is Bobby Belt and what makes him qualified to report on Dallas personnel? Joseph was quiet last season. When he did make it onto the field, he played really well at corner, and he's been praised by the coaching staff for his work ethic this offseason. He's an idiot for hanging out with the wrong crowd, but nothing about what we saw last season leads me to believe anything this guy is saying.

The mob mentality being displayed in this thread...it's concerning. Are we just going to believe everything some random dude says because it fits a profile we've been given? I'm more bothered by this than anything that was said about Kelvin Joseph.

We could have moved up and got Christian Barmore at DT. Was calling for it.

Me too. But I know better by now. But the Cowboys don't move up in the early rounds anymore than acquire high priced free agents.
