Hey, stop with the baloney talk already. Dak HAS EARNED HIS 2ND CONTRACT. HIS CONTRACT KEEPS LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER.

Admit it, or are you too proud to admit you are wrong?
How has DAK earned his contract? Beating up on NFCE is hardly earning his contract. STOP IT.

Dak's contract looks better and better all the time. As anyone with a brain knew even when he signed it.

The sad thing about it, is you have alot of people who aren't mentally bright enough to understand that this is how the league's pay scale works. There is one maybe two quarterbacks who are truly deserving of their max contracts in the NFL.

The dumb will never grasp the concept, thats why they cry and moan about Dak's contract.

Murray at 230 (46 per year) with 160 guaranteed. Lamar Jackson seems to be the next in line. Will he top 50 per year? Or at least approach 50 very closely? Will he get 200 guaranteed or close to it?

If Prescott has a good year will he feel underpaid? Will he and other top quarterbacks ask for and perhaps get reworked contracts with extensions? How long will this QB salary inflation continue and how high will it go? Just asking.

I know you have Dak on the brain, but that post nor is this thread about Dak.

That you replied to post as well as this thread is about Murray.

My mistake.. I thought you were referring to Dak.. I now see that you were referring to Murray.. but the same media outlets I just looked at have him AHEAD of Dak.. Not that I agree with them.. but again.. Not "everyone" has him in the 12-15 range as you stated.

2023 class is loaded with Qbs. There may be 12 or more NFL caliber guys in this draft

Dude when was the last time a draft produced that many NFL caliber QBs? Generally it's been considered a haul when 5 or 6 show up.

This might be the worst contract in the NFL now.

I highly doubt anybody at all believes Murray is worth what he is now being paid.

I like Murray. But like Dak, he is paid like a top tier QB while being a QB that has not done much in postseason and realistically does not crack the Top 10 list.

If the Cardinals didn't pay him some other team would have......teams are willing to pay for that potential elite QB....even if they may not pan out ..its a crap shoot .

QB vs Franchise QB vs Potential elite QB vs QB who you as a GM feel can get you to a Superbowl? What a discussion that would be for some of you. Comical.

My first thought when I read that post. If not Arizona, there are plenty of teams that would pay to "just be in the mix". Kyler makes the Cardinals a team worth watching because he's a playmaker. He may not have the volume that others have but on any given play he can do something that few others can.

The reality is that consistent, competent QB play is so hard to come by that teams are scared to death of losing anything that resembles a star QB.

I agree. NFL QB are paid big and teams are willing to pay it. Not Just Jerry but every owner and GM in the league. In 2019 Russell Wilson was the highest paid at 35 mill. Fans and boohoo about it all they want and it changes nothing. NFL will pay QB it is what it is

Exactly.........this article is a bit old but highlights your point. Quarterbacks will always get paid, especially starters. They are the face(s) of an $11 billion dollar monster.

You're paying a QB everyone sees as somewhere around 12ish to 15ish the 2nd most per year.

I said it once and I'll say it again...

You should only pay top dollar for top talent, not because it's "their turn to get paid".
In theory yes, but when there’s only 5/6 top talent guys what do you want a team to do, let their franchise QB walk?

Once the ball started rolling then it’s too late. Once owners started paying Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garrapolo, and Alex Smith elite money then the train left the station and it can’t be stopped.

You either have a QB that isn’t elite but still can be good to great at times or you have one that hamstrings you.

If your solution is cycling through guys until you land on an elite QB then you’re just talking to talk because it’s not actually realistic. GM’s, coaches, and players have leashes and want to feed their family. They aren’t just going to go through QB after QB to find the guy. Once you find someone you can win games with any human who wants his job in the NFL will do what they can to keep them.

Also, spinning the QB wheel and hoping to land on a jackpot could take you 20 years. Look at Chicago, Jacksonville, NYJ etc. At the end of the day this thing is a business and not just a competition in a vacuum. Front offices and most fanbases would rather have a competent winning team that gives you a chance rather than churning the heck outta your QB and team to try to find the right combination. It’s not Madden, these are real people who want to fill stands and keep their jobs. They don’t have the time to just go throwing darts until they find a Herbert or Mahomes.

I say all of this to say I think the absolute most pointless thing is complaining about or arguing that non-elite QB’s should get paid. Obviously people should be paid based on their rank, but that just not the way the NFL works. When elite QB’s are as scarce as they are the ones in the middle will be paid more. It’s just market rules man. I agree that these guys in theory shouldn’t be this paid, but I don’t get why you and other continue to shake your fist at the sky about this.

It’s not based solely on on-field performance and it never will be. Just let this salary thing go guys, it’s not changing anytime soon. Unless a team has a clear and obvious upgrade in front of it seldom will they move on from a top 15-16 QB. Just is what it is man.

Oh my god thank y’all! Finally we are accepting that this is how it works! Maybe other fanbases don’t have these issues but man we are so obsessed with salaries you’d think we were taxed and paying these guys ourselves.

If your QB is a top 15 guy and gives you chance to be a competitive team he’s going to get top dollar. We have to accept this and stop shaking our fist at the sky.
