I was acknowledging that the D & Beast were the engines but they still would have went home if not for Russ & the receivers making plays to put them over the hump. You gotta give a rookie who came in & outright won the job & then proceeds to go to 2 SB's the following season some credit is all I'm saying.
The legion of boom is one of the best defenses of all time lol.

he’s no Russell Wilson when it comes to putting that touch on the deep ball. Russ owns that and in his prime and Raynes prime it’s not close…….Dakota is no where as consistent in that attribute as Russ was/is.
Dak just getting into his prime what are u talkin about. Russ is 5 years older than Dak.

Never said they weren't.

But it's wrong to say they were 100% responsible for two SB appearances. It's a team game. You can assign them some % of the credit (and folks could argue about that number) but everyone contributed. Since there is no more important position than QB, he's got to get his share of the credit.

What's really funny is that the LOB reputation was put on a pedestal after the SB win. But they only beat the Broncos so bad because they figured out the play calls & were sitting on everything the whole game. The next year the Patriots won because they picked up on a key piece of information.

Booger is an idiot
He is about that because the very first lesson every agent teaches his player is life is all about the guarantee in that 2nd contract.

How can any player not be affected by the looming reward in his final year of his first contract? That affected Elliott to the point of not waiting for it.

Booger disagrees and said so when he re-signed Romo and said flatly “he will play better because he’s getting paid better”.

I think he believes that and players will play better as a reward instead of playing for the 2nd contract.

Well Romo is long time ago. And he had several players that proved him wrong.

From an intelligent man i would expect to change his approach. He often telled us also he is standing in front of the mirror questioning himself a lot. Well then change your approach.

No, i dont view Booger as an intelligent man. He has a talent to sell you that he is one. That he has everything under control. That he is thinking a lot about our success and so on.
But nothing of that is true.

Booger is a seller of visions and dreams. And there are enough people who want to buy into it. I think its a psychological need of people. And you can earn good money with it.

I think most people misunderstand monetary success and intelligence, knowledge or work. One has nothing to do with the other. Especially in a economical system like the US. But people see success and think wow, lets listen to this guy, he knows. Well he knows something, but not what you are all hoping for.

If this team was serious about winning. They would have built up an elite defense around Parsons in this offseason. Wagner was there, Von Miller was there. The draft done properly could have turned this D into an elite unit. The offense was going to take a step back regardless. Id rather have a top 10-15 offense and a top 3 defense going into the playoffs.

Instead. Here we are.

Regardless of how dak plays this year drafting a QB is a necessity. If Dak has an incredible year and loses in the first round of the playoffs again. Draft a QB round 1.

If they have a decent year dont make the playoffs. Move up in the draft for a QB in round 1.

If they win the freaking SB. Draft a QB in rounds 2-3. And let him sit and learn.

Either way. Draft another QB.
I wish they would do that, but you and I both know they won't.

Russ only got better (as you would expect a young player to do) while the rest of the team went downhill. It really is that simple, he and he alone has carried that franchise since the LOB & Beast Mode declined.

LOB & Beast were certainly the engines during his early years but that doesn't mean that Russ didn't make the plays to keep it all humming. He has been tremendous since day 1.
Fair point. But he alone was not enough to win ( and I get it, no one wins alone)...but the other parts of that team playing at a high level was needed to win. And that is all I am saying about the situation in Dallas. Dak is not good enough for the team to decline in the areas we have declined in. So with cap room...and there were players in free agency that could help us...I am not understanding why Jerry did not try to build off the momentum from last year. I think he thinks Dak and Zeke are paid well (and they are) to carry the team...but Zeke is not that guy anymore, especially with a declining OL...and Dak is not that guy without the support of a running game and good weapons. And no amount of money you pay him will change that.

Here is a refreshing new slant from the woah is me crowd.

FYI, Dak has a guy who was just in the pro bowl at Wr and a TE that has the franchise tag to work with.

Also, he is twice the qb he was in 2018.

Other than that, spot on!
Again, just because CeeDee was in the Pro Bowl (seriously, the Pro Bowl?) and Schultz has the franchise tag...does not equate to elite. Wasn't CeeDee like a 4th or 5th alternate? And does the Pro Bowl matter anymore? He is a good player for sure, but we are about to find out what he is made of when he get's priority attention from the defense. And Schultz did what he should do last year...catch the ball when you are wide open...which Cooper and Lamb had a lot to do with him being wide open. He was a rag doll in the run game, which the TE cannot be in this offense for the run game to work. And he seems like a guy in general that is not suited for contact.

We could....then "40 mill per year" goes out the window.

Or we could extend him, which is the most likely scenario.
I think that since his contract is "such a bargain" as some like to think we should trade him instead of extending him.

You Said, "We have seen Dak without WRs before. It was not pretty. We are trying something that has already failed. "

I understand about the Pro Bowl and tag...i really do. However, those two things next to your name never equal not having a receiver.

Which was the point that you missed.

See, you've been led to believe that about Jerry because the last time we actually took the QB position seriously was Aikman. That was the last time the Cowboys drafted a 1st round QB and it led to 3 Super Bowl.

We've wasted the past 15 years on an undrafted talent and now a 4th round dual-thread talent that won't be dual-threat anymore. We don't value the QB position enough. Instead, we pay a guy top money because he overachieves. Dak or Romo either one was never good enough. They buckle. They're too inconsistent. They can't be trusted to go through the playoffs without having a stinker of a game.

QBs can 100% win under Jerry. It's been done by Aikman.

The problem with Jerry is he thinks he's found the next Brady when one of his 3rd string QBs gets a chance and then plays well. He locks in on that guy and gets tunnel vision. The reality is Brady is a 1 of 1. Brady is the outlier of all outliers. You can't try and recreate that.

My wish is for Jerry to take the QB position seriously again for the 1st time since Aikman. Draft a 1st round talent, sign a big name QB in FA, or make a blockbuster trade. I know that can't happen for a few years, but when possible I'd like to see it done. If he was serious about doing anything to win then he would sure up the most important position on the team with a real talent.

That is a big problem we have. We dont invest into the QB position at all.

An to all those "pro Daks": No! Investment is not giving your QB a 160 mil contract. Investment means finding the right guy way before you need to pay him.

Just figure: the most important position in this sport but you dont invest nothing into it. How could you expect be successful ?

It was the same with Romo and it has been the same with Prescott. Just because we dont invest we got ourselfs into a position where we needed to pay a guy we all knew he wouldnt be able to get us to anything meaningful. Its just like you said: Too inconsistent.

Now someone can think about reasons why they are to inconstistent. For me the reason is: lack of talent. I played sports most of my life and what i learned is: You are consitent arond your talent level. If you have to play beyond your talent level you get inconsistent. Inconsitency is the primary way to judge if a player has the talent (or is ready) to be successfull on a certain kind of level.

We all appreciate Smiths success. Why ? He wasnt the greatest RB at his time. There were others like Barry Sanders. But what made him great was his consitent delivery. Same with Aikman or with other good players. To be consitent you have to have the talent to win against others by playing only 80% of your limit. If you need to play at 100% all the time you will make mistakes and so become inconsitstent.

Dont misunderstand me. I am not talking about willingness to give 100%. They all do. I am talking about ability. Thats why certain teams are able to up their game against stronger oponents or in the playoffs and others dont. Prescott for instance needs to play 100% to his ability to even be able to beat weak teams. There is nothing left to up when he has to play against better defenses.

I think he will extend him.
Thanks. We can all talk about what we want out of the front office but it is important to keep in mind Jones does what he does. And he has a long track record to look at and guess what he may or may not do.

Great idea, who plays qb?
What teams are willing to deal with us? Who is going to be a FA? Who might have a falling out with their team and want out? Where are we drafting? What QBs coming out in the draft this year or next look like hits?

There's plenty of options out there, but you have to be willing to move on from the albatross around your neck first.

I think he believes that and players will play better as a reward instead of playing for the 2nd contract.

Whatever Prescott’s contract is, that has nothing to do with how he will play. It is simply the rising cost to keep a franchise QB.
I am glad you said this. Jerry has always operated like this. In fact, if you recall....he also sweetened Romos deal a little more because he KNEW the OL was not up to par, and he expected the extra money he paid Romo would incentivize Romo to overcompensate for a bad OL. THIS IS HOW JERRY THINKS!!!!!!!! But sports does not work like that!!! Players get paid based on what the market will bear. But just because they are paid like they are elite, it does not make them elite. So the front office and coaching staff have to do their job. You have to know your players strengths and weaknesses and put a team around them based on that. Being highly paid does not mean you are without flaws.

You cannot just "roll the ball out on the court" and be guaranteed that your highest paid players will outperform the guy on the other side because he makes more than the guy in front of him. You can want that. You can hope for that. But that is not how it works.
