Love my Cowboys. Been a fan since the 70s. But there is a big window of Cowboys football that does not stand out to me as HOFish. I know people have wondered aloud if Romo should get consideration. I loved Romo. I think a lot of those 8-8 teams would have been 4-12 without him. But you cannot win 2 playoff games in your career and be a HOF QB. Witten was a great great player when Parcells was here. He was really good after Parcells left for a window. Then the rest I thought he was just a stat padder. Again, he will make the HOF due to sheer stats. But I know many people on this board think it will be first ballot...and I cannot see that happening at all. Way too many other better players had to wait and I think he will eventually get in, but some of you all are really setting yourselves up for disappointment when it does not happen on the 1st couple of tries. I feel the same way about Tyron Smith. Great Great player for a decent window. Then kind of getting by on reputation after that. If he gets in, it will be after a couple of tries. I think Zach Martin gets in, but again, without postseason success, will he get in first ballot?Wasn't pretty but his campaign last season coming off a major surgery was respectable, most thought he'd retire. 2021 season: Day 1 pro bowl roster, 3rd place on the all-pro voting for LT, NFL top 100 list.
Dudes a beast. You can complain all you want about his injuries but he's still an animal.
He makes the hall of fame right now within 3 years of being eligible (8x pro bowl, 7x NFL top 100, 1st team all-decade, 1st/2nd team all-pro 4x)

Post-season success (especially for positions that aren't stat based) isn't as important as you think. It can get you over the hump if your a fringe HOF player but if your a HOF'er on paper (accolades) then you don't need playoff success.I feel the same way about Tyron Smith. Romo isn't a hall of famer on paper. There's no way you can look at his stats and and debate he's in.Love my Cowboys. Been a fan since the 70s. Good discussion. So with the HOF lineman....did you at least have to block for a 1400+ yard rusher? Or protect a QB who threw for a significant amount of passing yards or TDs? If not, I can see why Deion feels the way he does.Post-season success (especially for positions that aren't stat based) isn't as important as you think. For example the only tackle on the all-decade team that received more votes then Tyron was Joe Thomas. Thomas will most likely be a first ballot player and he literally NEVER played in a single playoff game his entire career. Trent Williams whose a future hall of famer and is about to start his 13th NFL season has only played past the wildcard round once in his entire career.
Voters don't care. Thomas, Tyron, and Trent will all make the hall of fame even without post-season success. Combination of elite accolades and playing one of the 3 premier positions will get them in

He had hall of fame talent (which is fair) but he didn't play long enough. If he had continued playing a few more years he could of gotten in via the phillip rivers method (get enough balance of longevity and accolades to get in) or like I said earlier if your on the fringe then playoff success could get you over the hump (1 or 2 superbowls could of offset his lack of longevity and his lack of pro bowls/all-pro selections)
For tackle if you have at least 2 out of the following 3 attributes then it would cover 95% of the tackles enshrined in the last 40 yearsGood discussion. 100% lock. Runningback is the one position that you have to over-rated longevity since it doesn't really exist. You can't really pad stats at a position that is literally impossible to pad stats (teams run you into the ground for 3 seasons and then spit you out). What are your thoughts on Frank Gore? Ran for a bunch of yards. Proved his longevity at a physical position. So that is nothing to be dismissive of. But I don't think anyone game planned for him. I don't think he carried an offense. But he does have numbers.
He doesn't hold anyone hostage. Cowboys have neglected to find his backup....that's not on Tyron. He's still on a friendly deal. I'd take him for 12 or 13 games a year at that salary.Quite frankly it’s time to move on. Yes he was a bear but he holds the cowboys hostage unintentionally
We are a different team without him in the field and he misses too much time my guess is he misses 6 games or plays hurt and less effective in that many
Tyron has missed 33 games in 11 seasons, 14 of those were in 2020. Terron Armstead has missed 48 games in 9 seasons. He signed an 87m contract, 43m guaranteed this off season. For reference, counting the 5 game suspension Lael Collins has missed 39 games in 7 seasons. Our fan base is a bunch of morons!Where does he rank in number of games missed due to injury? Sean Lee was top 10, but I am curious where Tyron ranks.
Well your right it’s not his fault but I’d just as soon find his replacement it really don’t matter about the deal it matters about the impact he has on the team when he misses his annual 3 to 5 games plus those he plays hurt . I know his impact when he’s out but they should be good enough to win when he misses 2 or 3 games….Well your right it’s not his fault but I’d just as soon find his replacement it really don’t matter about the deal it matters about the impact he has on the team when he misses his annual 3 to 5 games plus those he plays hurt . You watch the impact when he goes down.
