You can't have that at ANY Position. The fact is that the front office took steps to actively REDUCE depth at the OL position without a reasonable backup plan. I don't mind getting rid of La'Ell Collins. I have a big problem with getting rid of La'el Collins and your best backup plan is Josh Ball and whomever you pickup in a draft.
Not their plan, they were giving the snaps to the young payers first. i like how fans think they have the inside knowledge of the inner working of an entire team's plan..lmao. newsflash, YOU DO NOT!

guarantee the swing tackle was already on their radar for a before the season as a late acquisition, as lots of cuts and small trades are made after the 53 cut down

you do not know who they have on their short lists and who they might have been talking too already. no need to hurray to bring in swing tackle during PS but now that a starter needed it becomes priority,

Play 2 TEs and 2 WRs, chip just enough to allow the OT to get his hands on the DE and not allow a jail break. Unless he’s just a real mess at OT, I’d play Tyler Smith out there for the run game.

For double what he was worth before Tyron went down.

This team doesnt plan ahead. They react.
How do you work that out? His market value hasn't changed.
Either he wants a contract or doesn't. Actually the thinking is that the price reduces the closer we get to the season.

It's not ideal but you move the rookie out to LT and let him learn on the fly. He was getting dominated in the LG competition with McGovern anyway. This helps him save face.

Going to be a long season. At least we get that glorious day in October when Jerry turns 80.

So, move a player who can not beat out a lesser player at a lesser position to a more important/critical position? Are you serious?

I think this can work. We have the TEs and lack of WRs and the need to run the ball…..so play our new Smith at LT and run lots of 2-TE, 2-WR sets.

If this is as bad as it sounds, we better hit the leftovers market.

If anyone is looking for a silver lining--and I know that can be taboo around here--Dallas DID use its 1st round pick on an OT this year. So there's that.

How many of us have been saying you can't count on Tyron Smith to play a full year.
Simple physics: you don't get better when you age, especially not when you have sustain multiple injuries on your way to agedness.
It was foolish for Jerry and company to bank on T.S. playing a full year and relying on him to stay healthy.
And Stevie Wonder says, "Amen!"

MM just admitted Tyler ain't ready to start an NFL game.....think about that. If your head coach ( ya strongest supporter ) is telling the public he ain't ready, he's a long way off IMO. My guess is that has mostly to do mentally, technically and playbook.

The La'el situation has absolutely nothing to do with Tyron's injury... neither La'el, Steele nor Ball are ever going to play LT in the NFL. Steele was abysmal at left in 2020.
We never had a serious option at Swing Tackle as no internal option can fill LT.
It's quite conceivable that we were always going to go Fisher as the swing tackle as he's the only realistic option.
Why Stephen didn't sign him already ... well because he loves a bargain and it could be argued that if a team realistically looked at Fisher we would have signed him.
Like it or not, that's how they roll, if another team doesn't come in for Fisher he'll be a reasonable price, if someone puts a bid in then it may cost more.... though Stephen can now justify it as he'll save on Tyron in 2023 as he's is probably getting cut.

6-8 weeks? The ligament or tendon pulled a piece of bone away from the knee! The younger player, “Jets tackle Mekhi Becton suffered one earlier this month and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.”

I'm not a doctor, just saying what I read on Google.

Another problem is since they waited so long they might have priced themselves out of the free agent market

There's a huge difference between "we will pay you three to five million to be a backup and maybe fill in a few games" versus "hey we have to pay you to start 17 games at the second most valuable position"

Happened to the eagles a few years ago and that situation their backup was already on the roster let alone a free agent (they were paying Peters I think 5 million to be guard and be the emergency backup tackle and when their starter went down in camp and they pitch to Peter's hey you might have to start the full year at LT he immediately went no I'm not touching that for less than 10 million a year).

They are saying avulsion fracture, which after googling, says its a 6-8 week type of injury

Tyron has probably played his last NFL game. The body breaks down after so much damage and he has been breaking down for over 5 years.

I had always hoped that his injuries were one-offs. That once he was healed he would return to being the rock he has been his whole career. I thought his neck surgery would make him a monster again.

Now this.

It's time to move on. Probably past time. Whether it's Tyler or somebody else, we now know Tyron days are done.

Very sad it has ended this way
