"The most important element is functional ownership [and] front office ... because there's a handful of teams that aren't, and those teams, regardless of what takes place, they can win on Sunday but they have trouble winning long term," he said. "The opportunity to win consistently and the willingness to build the correct culture and all those things."

In other words, he's not coming to Dallas.

Definitely sounds like where ever he decides to go he wants a lot of control over decisions.

It is more likely to snow in Dallas on July 4th than for Jerry Jones to ever hire a top notch NFL coach who has full control of the locker room, hiring of assistants, and any other normal NFL HC authority.

He hired Parcells so he could get the stayjum built. Since then he’s hired Wade, Garrett and Big Mac. And all three of them let JJ do whatever he wants, when ever he chooses.

Unless JJ and SJ agree to change how this thing is run, expect the next Cowboys HC to be someone who agrees to let Jerry be Jerry. That won’t be Sean Payton.

Would it surprise anyone if either Quinn or Moore were the next HC of the Cowboys? I don't see Payton coming to Dallas as the HC unless he has total control. Just my IMO

Great team building coaches always have a plan before they even begin. They acquire players that fit their plan. That's why they require almost complete control unless the GM is exactly on the same page as the HC.

Jerry is a team destroyer. He doesn't understand that, no matter how talented the player, if he doesn't fit the scheme then the coach has to modify his plan and that is the beginning of the end.

Quinn yes! Moore, I like him a touch more as OC than most… just don’t see him having enough of an Alpha personality to be comfortable with it!

Thing is I’m fine with a coach letting Jerry be Jerry as long as he’s really good at scheme and clock/game management. If you can do those two things we have as good as a chance as we can under the circumstances.

Exactly, I’ve said it many times. What a head coach is going to put their reputation on the line without total control. Not many except maybe a new start up. Don’t blame him
