Many need to stop crying about Cooper. Once Lamb was drafted, they weren’t going to be able to keep all 3. Season not over cause Cooper is playing for the Browns, lol.

Dallas Cowboys regretting questionable Amari Cooper trade?
Through three games, Cooper has been the most heavily targeted player in the Browns’ offense by a landslide. He’s got 27 targets in three games with 219 yards and two touchdowns on 19 receptions. After his performance on Thursday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cooper became the first Cleveland receiver to have 100 yards in back-to-back games since the 2013 season (Josh Gordon).

Although everyone understood the financial motivations behind trading Cooper in the offseason, the Cowboys had no one to blame but themselves for the financial pickle they found themselves in. Although it’s only been two games for Dallas and we haven’t yet seen Michael Gallup, it’s clear that letting go of Cooper for a fifth-round pick in the offseason was a massive error by Jerry Jones and company.

Wide receiver is a premium position in today’s NFL. Although the Browns don’t have Deshaun Watson out there, Cooper has been able to help give their offense balance with the running game led by a dynamic two-headed monster of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Cooper has been a security blanket for interim starter Jacoby Brissett who is managing the offense well and completing over 66 percent of his passes so far.

As the season rolls along, we’ll see how much the Dallas Cowboys truly miss a player like Cooper.

wow how original only 16 other copper threads. Now 17 good job..overdisussed and now a stale post tittle..we have a played 2 games, get over it. Gallups back and when dak gets back with Gallup, Lamb and Washington actually play together and elevate the bottom of the wr room, it will shake out the way the coaches had wanted.

I can care less what POOPs doing in Brownsville.(((( POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!))))

The irony, where was this AC support while he was here..lmao. there want this much.thats for sure. sick of this tired subject if i could block all posts with the words Amari and Cooper in them i would.

So shortsighted.

It had become blatantly obvious that Cooper was not the one to take us there, especially at his salary. It was time to move on. Kinda ironic that you can't step back and see that!!!!!

  • If Cooper had lived up to expectations in terms of production and expectations that a veteran #1 WR should be a leader...
    • He would have remained on the team in 2022 regardless of his salary.
    • Bottom Line: A 20M per year #1 WR should not have less catches than the 2nd WR.
    • Cooper and CeeDee had a very similar number of snaps. Both in the mid 800 range but CeeDee had more catches.
  • Catches in 2021:
    • Amari Cooper: 68 in 834 snaps played.
    • Davante Adams: 123 in 886 snaps played.
Even middle of the pack WRs like Terry McLaurin in Washington had more catches than Cooper.

Cooper also 'called out' the coaches which just can't be tolerated.
- Jimmy and Belichick would never tolerate that type of behavior from any player.

Add in the Covid ordeal, and it was not a difficult decision to dump Cooper and his 20M salary.

Nobody doubted that Cooper has the ability to play like he is playing in Cleveland.
- #1: Nobody knows if he'll do it for the full season. He has flaked out at times with both the Cowboys and Raiders.
- #2: If other teams thought the Cowboys were making a huge mistake, then one of those teams would have out bid Cleveland in the trade.

Look at Cooper’ first few games in Dallas, too. He killed it then as well. That is Cooper’s MO… he comes out blazing and then slowly loses interest once he’s proven he’s good and then tails off.

He did with the raiders, he did it here, and he’ll do it in Cleveland. It’s just not worth the money.

This is it in a nutshell, but the whole “Dallas messed up” perception is a profitable one that fills up airtime. Plus, “journalists” don’t have to work hard!✊

We should look at Cooper in DALLAS not in Cleveland.
The facts are that he had just 3 games of 80 yards all last year when targets were being shared with Lamb and Shultz.

I'm not saying we should or should not have kept Cooper, but just because he is far and away the best option for Cleveland does not mean he lights it up here.

Furthermore, nobody in their right mind would make a season long opinion based on three games.

Your whole post is accurate but this in particular is exactly right. If other teams thought that Cooper was really worth a first round pick, they would have offered a 4th before we traded for a 5th. And then someone would have subsequently offered a 3rd to beat the 4th, and so on. I’ve been saying this, and it is absolutely right.

It is ludicrous to think that because teams knew that Dallas was going to get rid of Cooper they wouldn’t offer more than a 5th. Teams covet talent above all else. If Cooper was some great player, other teams would have easily outbid a 5th. They didn’t because what Amari offers vs. what you have to pay him, simply isn’t worth a lot.

If Dallas suddenly said they weren’t keeping Parsons, teams would be falling all over themselves to offer more than other teams.

It was a fabrication of the fans and media to think Dallas killed his value because teams knew they weren’t keeping him.

Also, outside the division in big games, he also seemed to disappear. Many questioned if he was a true #1 WR prior to the arrival of Lamb. He certainly got paid like one.

Exactly.

No other team is going to just let Cleveland get a good deal just because the Cowboys made it clear they were dumping Cooper.

There was no "Financial Pickle ".
The Cap Space for Coop's salary is still sitting there unused.
Now if they need that space to roll over for Dak next year
it's more understandable.
But have not heard that's the case.

Bingo. When he came here he seemed to save that season. Then like others he got paid. On the sideline pouting. Not showing up getting open in some games. The whole thing with missing time because of not wanting the vaccine. Which I don’t blame him. Nobody should be forced.

It’s actually a myth he “killed” it when he first came to Dallas.

Like I said, his numbers shot up in man coverage, but Dak couldn’t find him at all against zone. In 4 of the 9 games, he didn’t even break 40 yards catching, including the last 3. The numbers that obfuscated his performance was primarily the Eagles game, where he caught over 200 yards passing, including what should have been an easy pick by the Eagles CB on a horrible throw by Dak on the last play, but the ball bounced off his hands into Amari’s. That games Schwartz basically had CBs sitting on their routes with no safety help, and Amari had to yell at Dak to throw it.

Amari didn’t have a break out game, until he played the pathetic Commanders, but before this, in three games he averaged around 50 yards catching and only 1 TD in three games.

Our resident QB still sucks against zone in year 7.

The problem wasn’t Amari, it was the QB. The Raiders, as I said a million times, he had 2 1000 yard seasons to start his career and then they got a baby as an OC and his numbers dropped, but his TDs went up on less targets. They traded him the next year, like Mack, because Gruden was rebuilding the Bears and they knew Amari was due a huge contract. They were looking to stockpile draft picks and the Raiders had multiple offers.

Yup. Ridiculous.

Cooper is good. No one is disputing that. However, there is just something missing in both his mental makeup, and his ability to stay healthy. And then add in that he spewed some crapp that he quite simply should've been smart enough to not say. Doesn't matter if it was true or not, there's just some things you don't say.

20 mil is actually reasonable for a #1 WR. The fact that a 5th was the best offer goes beyond saying everything we need to know.

Cooper is prolly in the 15-20 range as far as WR's. And that is w/ issues. I may be lonely here, but I'm glad he's gone, just as I'm glad Gregory is gone, and I'll be glad when EZ is gone. Those are quite simply not the players that will lead you to the championship.
