Seems a little deja vous to me.

I recall a few years ago the same accolades was reserved for a LB the Cowboys got in a "steal" because of an injury he suffered. We were told that he would have been a top five pick and all we had to do was be patient for a season while he healed.

A football player never fully recovers from devastating injury, not only physically but emotionally and psychologically. Spinal fusion surgery? We aren't talking tonsils or appendix here. I'll keep my fingers crossed but I'm not maximizing the expectations, I hope he turns out to be a good investment that pays off in the future.

If a 5th round pick goes on to win a pro-bowl like that other LB the Cowboy got then it's okay by me.

Is that how the NFL determines the Super bowl champion? They add up all the Pro Bowlers and the one with the most wins?

That other LB, Jaylon Smith, did make the Pro Bowl one season. He's done little else since. I'll take a steady 5-8 year starter over a one and done Pro Bowl season anytime.

A 5th round draft choice has substantial value depending on the talent level of your personnel experts. A 5th round pick gave us Walt Garrison, Ron Springs, and Herschel Walker.

I wish Damone Clark the absolute best. I hope he fully recovers. My disagreement is with the practice of gambling on injured or troubled players. People gamble because they enjoy the excitement of risk taking. A "risk" is defined as an action with potential danger. It involves the concept of luck over expertise. Has anyone ever been given the impression that the Dallas Cowboys are a lucky franchise?

I stand with those who will wait to build a pedestal for this guy, I think he is a good OLB, but I am not so sure about the middle position. Parsons's comparisons are way off as far as pre-draft abilities are shown. You get a starter at that pick and I call it a win.

Look, no disrespect to Broaddus, but these writers get paid for clicks.
The Cowboys have the biggest fanbase in the league. Top to bottom, that fanbase is not the most educated in the league (just look at some of the posts on this site as evidence).
Broaddus writes an article that he knows Cowboys fans will click on and talk about. That's good for him. It justifies his salary.
I liked Clark at LSU. Felt he was a 2nd/3rd round talent. I'm very hopeful he becomes a good player for us. I think it was worth a shot with one of our many 5th rounders, but let's see the kid play before we anoint him a pro bowler.
Last year it was Cox. What a steal, future star etc. He isn't playing this year.
How many years did Broaddus and other Cowboy "insiders" tell us Xavier Woods would be a pro bowler?
These guys get paid to get clicks, and talking up a "Cowboys Draft Steal" gets clicks.

A 5th round picks are a risk. The percentage of success is low.

A some point the risk of very talented but injured player is lower than the risk of the less talented but healthy players available.

I don’t recall a single instance Broaddus claiming Xavier Woods would be a Pro Bowler.

"You can play this guy anywhere."

Listen to the 10:20 to 15:30 mark of the video and then go unfollow Micah Parsons on all social media.

mr Risen--- i have heard Damone Clark may be all-pro material and that is not an exaggeration.....it will take time....not this year....or even next but we did steal one

Cowboys draft machine is incredible

i wish we did free agency like we do the draft.....or maybe because we do the draft so well they are the ones that see the true picture more clearly?......we have some young killer talent....and right now

i got so excited on Mondy i laid an Octuple Plat gurantee cowboys win ( 8 ) Plats.......someome may have slipped me a Mickey?....but i really like our chances....if we stay healthy and win this game

which is asking a lot....but how about making Sheagles 5-1?.....if we can find a way to run and Coop finds his recievers i like our chances.....

Clark’s herniated disc was very similar to the injury suffered by Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. After the 2019 season, Vander Esch underwent the same fusion surgery Clark had. Vander Esch’s comeback- the only missed time he’s missed since was for an unrelated broken clavicle- helped boost Clark’s confidence for his own return.\\

Cowboys doctor discovered rookie LB Damone Clark’s injury (usatoday.com)

After the surgery LVE became Bobby Carpenter. Hopefully, it's not the same with Clark.

hey John ...Otis still dont like his veggies....do you ever ask Otis....how are cowboys going to do this week?....i know sounds crazy.....but you fall in love with those little animlas

i agree with your larger point but the risk reward in rd 5 was worth it IMO

I hope these accolades prove correct, but how about we actually see this guy play a game before calling him a steal?

Yeah and it took LVE a season before he was psychologically ready to play. He is playing well now. Let’s see how this guy play. Sounds like a beast in the making..
LVE was good in the 2nd half of 2021.

He had one of the best performances of any Cowboys player in the playoff game.
- He had 13 tackles in that game.
