Steele had his worst game since the first one. He gave up a sack, at least one other hit on the QB and had a couple of false starts. Not saying you aren't right, just that it seems like a bad time to bring this subject up.

100% correct. I was a little concerned when the Cowboys straight released him, but the Cowboys knew what they were doing.

Excellent time to bring it up with the body of work and he isn't going against Hutchinson again. What would Hutchinson do to Collins?

Of Course they did. They do know what they are doing. They are good and they are going to be good next year too.

Don't know. I just know this one wasn't Steele's best game. Been pleased with him so far overall, but he and Tyler both had some problems with Hutchinson. Steele also needs to clean up the false starts. He seems to have a bit of an issue with them like Witten did.

I still thought Collins was the better player, but he declined a lot post accident and injuries. I rather have someone reliable that's there on gamedays, plus Steele definitely has taken some nice steps forward the last couple of years.

He's a cheerleader. Nothing more.

Steele is a backup level player. We need a real RT.

There is no doubt about it. The move to go with Steele was by far the right decision. The trolls and crybabies had a field day with this move and they were totally wrong. Go Cowboys!

Yep.............CHECK!!!

Collins is the better player. Anyone who argues Steele is an upgrade at RT would be misguided & based on what we saw in 2021, that is not true.

To put it into perspective, Collins was the 15th ranked tackle by PFF grading & Steele was 58th. There is no debate that the former LSU lineman is better.

Like Erik Williams did . .
Besides the Bucs game, what other penalty game has Steele been plagued with ?

Don't agree with you about Steele. Just pointing out that Detroit was not his best game. The Cowboys have given up the fifth-fewest sacks this season (11) so far. They've only given up two more than the top team (Buffalo). Steele is a big part of that. According to stats kept by the Washington Post, he's allowed one sack (I believe he's allowed two) and been called for five penalties (four false starts).

For those comparing him to Collins, the Post has him with three sacks allowed and five penalties (two of them holds, compared to one hold for Steele). They credit Penei Sewell for 1.5 sacks allowed and three penalties, but I'm not sure how you don't give him two sacks for Williams beating him twice Sunday.

There wasn't really a decision based on who is better- this was a money decision. At the time they were up against the cap. Thats what happens when you give one guy so much money in a sport with a salary cap. I think Collins would have made 8-10 million this year if they kept him. He was an idiot, but a good right tackle. He wasn't a free agent very long, and had multiple teams after him for a reason.

He had two false starts against Detroit. Outside of those two games, I think he's been fine. And it wasn't that he played terrible against Detroit. He played as well as or better than their first-round tackle did. Steele is really good in the run game as announcers keep pointing out.

I don't agree with you completely. Money wouldn't have been an issue if Dallas didn't believe Steele and Collins were close in ability.

It's not that Steele is that good....it's just that Collins was REALLY bad.
