So you’re rooting for Russia? Speaking of being corrupt.
Of course not.
Why would you say that?
I can't stand Russia.
I asked a simple question about where they rank in Europe. No need to make inferences beyond that.

Just saying....this is kind of like Jeff Dalmer invading Charles Manson.
They both suck in a big way and both are unimaginably corrupt.

I think so many way less informed folks (I assume not you) do not realize just how awful Ukraine is.
We all already know how screwed up Russia is....that's low hanging fruit.

I guess I am uninformed because I’ve never heard Ukraine was an awful couture. Quite the opposite actually.

Surprised you've heard that. Of course, Russia is awful too.

This all sounds like pretense when the election comes around to pull monetary support away from Ukrain.

No pretense needed. They're not NATO country. No support, outside of medical/humanitarian aid, should be given.

And that's even with the knowledge that we had warhawks like McCain over there in 2014/2015 stoking the flames of a civil war. Stop throwing good money after bad.

Lol, here we go.

Do you really think it’s in the United States or NATO’s best interest to let Russia occupy Ukraine? There’s a reason why Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership.

US interest? Which interest? The safety and security? Yeah right! I deployed many times under the banner of that BS. No, Russia is not a direct threat to our Nation's security. Well, not unless we keep doing what we're doing right now and that is meddling in the backyard of a former Super Power that still has functional Nukes.

The interest that you're unknowingly speaking of is the interest of the US Military Industrial Complex.

NATO? They've done nothing but expand Eastward since the Wall came down. Something they agreed not to do. When Russia threatens to take this conflict into the nearest NATO country like Poland, then they can act accordingly.

I'll flip this back on you. Do you really think it's in Russia's best interest to allow NATO to expand right up to its border? Do you know how bad the US would've flipped out if the roles were reversed? That's when you'd see the real response to a real threat to our National Security. We'd do the same thing that Russia did. Influence the elections/politicians of Canada to make them pro-USA.

Ukraine had a chance with signing the Minsk II agreement, but as we know now, it was just a stalling tactic. There was another chance to negotiate a deal but Borris Johnson was sent in at the last minute to pour water on that.

If you think the extent of our interests is simply safety and security you’re naive. So, let me get this straight, you believe the West should stand down as Russia invades and attacks Ukraine unprovoked, targeting civilian populations in an effort to expand its territory, economy, military bases, goods, et cetera, under the leadership of an unscrupulous kook?

This isn’t a civil dispute over whether a fence is not straddling the property line accurately.

If you think that the invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked and came out of nowhere, and that no one in DC or Kiev was planning on it, then you're the one that's naive.

I'll say it again for you: NATO expansion/War Profiteering

But you’re free to believe what you want.

Very respectfully,

It proves that this notion that it all started unexpectedly on 24 Feb ‘22 is flat wrong.

So you're saying Russia should get to dictate what nations around them do diplomatically and automatically have a right to invade if they don't like it? They should get to invade if anyone from another nation visits?

You're saying we should have bombed Cuba into nonexistence the second the Soviets had someone visit it? We're talking sovereign nations here, not vassal states.

You got all of that …from me expressing my thoughts on why this invasion happened?

Because I don’t gobble the Western MSM take on this, that I naturally must support “bombing” another country? Very interesting take.

I think it's a lot more complicated than you imagine and I think a lot of it has to do more with natural resources than politics. Russia wanted Ukraine's grains and other natural resources and needed excuses to invade for it. Wars and invasions are almost always about resources when you get down to it.

We didn't start it. Russia wasn't afraid we'd invade them. Russia needed more resources to sustain its corrupt regime. It's the same underlying reason all nations have regardless of the excuse that they give. (even the U.S. does it)
