Half a sack in 4 years. Gone next year anyway. Not gonna bring anything as a comp pick.

We had too many bodies at DT. Somebody had to go. Made sense it was Hill.

Still some cheap years left on Bohanna's contract.

Maybe. Or maybe they wanted to rest Gallimore because he was injured. I know there was some speculation that he was a healthy scratch, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

We essentially cut Hill to keep Watkins, which goes back to the fact that Hill isn't that great of a run defender. That wasn't ever really supposed to be his strength, but the fact that he's done little as a pass rusher would make being able to stop the run a necessity for keeping him around.

I would have cut him a while back and kept Ridgeway. Hill has had some flashes, but not enough up to this point to think he's anything more than a bottom-of-the-roster guy.
Yep. Hill has had a while to impress. I think he was in the dog house early in his career. Lazy. I wanted to see how Ridgeway did after he got adjusted. I don’t think he is playing at washington either.

Just checked. He has 5 tackles and has been playing. Had a assisted tackle against us. Not doing much.

It’s interesting they sit Gallimore because he’s bad but kept Hill on the roster to cut him.
Methinks that dropping Gallimore was a strategic masterplan by a football genius. Stephen saw that he telegraphed the Coop trade and this time he made teams think if he was cutting a DT it could have been either Hill or Gallimore.....hoping that someone had a strong liking for one of them. Just bad luck it failed:rolleyes:

Was this reaction to drafting Joey Ivey? The guy who didn't even make it out of training camp? Rod no only loved terrible talent, he gave them no time to impress. Once he was done with them he was done. The fact that he veto'd TJ Watt should let the entire NFL know this guy has zero talent evaluation skills

Rod should not have "that' much influence in how we decide on drafting. Not to where he impacts "value" .

Taco was considered a 2nd rd pick by the value of McClay's draft board, but they were so paranoid about not getting the DE they coveted, that they pressed, reached
for a DE and one based on Rod's preference ..supposedly size and length played a part of this.

Funny because supposedly Marinelli preferred " quick-twitch" linemen, and Taco was slow and lumbering off the ball.

I don't mind assistant coaches influence on the late round picks,- projects & development like picks
..but the early ones, the premium picks .? .the first to 3rd rounders ?
Nope.. leave those far more to McClay crew, imo.

I was just watching the Rams highlights, Hill had a couple of pressures on Stafford, make him leave the pocket and throw in distress one time. Through out his time with us, seem to me that he was always a step behind in his persue, a slow developing guy. He has talent, had plenty of time and opportunity but just didn't happen for him. Add to that his injuries and immaturity... and also the numbers game on this team, front office really amount a lot of talent on D, have to give them that. He still has a future on this league.

Well, I was dead wrong about him. I thought he had the physical tools to be a real player.

Not the first I was wrong about and I'm sure he won't be the last.

I agree.. Hill has been the most productive of all the DTs on a per snap basis.. But his lack of maturity might have led him to be mouthy about that fact and it might have rubbed the coaches the wrong way one time too many..

I think the let Hill go because he is a free agent next year and they have no plans to re-sign him. If this means they are determined to get better at the position then I am fine with the move. But I will never be convinced he was let go because he was the worst of an average lot. They were sort of stuck with Hill. I don't think they can send Watkins back to the PS. I wish Hill well wherever he goes. I hope he finds a new team.

Another disappointment.

I understand what they are doing but he is better than Gallimore and all you have to do is watch them play to see it.

I have watched him play. I rewatched both the Tampa and Eagles games and focused on him and all I saw is him being thrown around like a rag doll. I counted at least three plays where a single OL pancaked him 1v1 and countless times where he was easily collapsed inside on off-tackle runs. I am honestly bewildered that some of you thought he was playing well. Maybe you could point me to a couple of plays where he physically overpowered an OL and blew a play up or he held his ground against a C/G double team. Seriously interested because I’m just not seeing it.

Here is an example. Watch 72 Hill lined up next to DLaw at the goal line against the Lions. Same pancake Tyler Smith did to Hill in camp.

They probably needed the space for Malik Davis. They’ll try to stash Hill on the practice squad.

Good for Dan Quinn. Finally showing some signs of being proactive in flushing the turds ahead of schedule.

He's on the clock.
Joseph will get the remainder of this season and the start of 2023 - similar to Charlton - to prove himself.
But if he doesn't turn the corner by this time next year...the Cowboys will pull the plug.

- They probably will let Joseph's rookie contract expire and allow him to walk.
i really don't knock this pick because it was a 2nd rounder, but i can see why they thought it would work.
based on his work vs Heisman Devontae Smith, game tape and workout numbers.

- Meanwhile it looks like it's gonna be a next year's draft look for the next No.2 CB, as Brown is not
at the top of his game. And not looking like a long term solution.

- Forget the Nashon Wright 3rd rounder- Barely even game active. I get the impression that they don't think he's a factoring player.

- I dunno if they see rookie Daron Bland past just a 3rd CB. Time will tell.

I found it more interesting to play Carlos Watkins vs Bears ... but yet Trysten Hill was made inactive game day vs Bears.

Was a plan to trade him instead of playing him vs Bears the reason for that ?
I really wonder if sumthin' with Hill was going on behind the scenes,.. in the locker room, where the club no longer wanted to deal with him.

I see Hill standing up the OG until he is blocked from the side by the tackle. Even then he is not giving ground. The run was stuffed.

Or been late or missed meetings or other types issues

maybe they know hes about to be suspended for peds or something else. seemed abrupt to me.

Yeah talk about seeing what you wanna see. I wonder sometimes what games people are watching. Hill took on the guard and pushed him back and was holding his ground until the double came. His occupying the tackle coming down is what left Barr free to fall on the ball once Tank punched it out. If that tackle is able to get out to Barr the Lions may have fallen on that thing in the end zone for a TD. I mean feel free to hate Hill all you want but if you're going to post examples of his poor play at least post something that shows it rather than something that shows him doing his job.
