First, I am pleasantly surprised. I had the Cowboys record at 9-8.

Second, I'm glad they didn't give up a top draft choice for a receiver. Didn't we learn our lesson with Amari Cooper, Joey Galloway and Roy Williams?
A wide receiver is NOT going to make the difference between us making the playoffs or the Super Bowl or not.
A great defense (which we're shaping into), an offense powered by the running game, a healthy offensive line and accurate throws to move the chains will.

Third, I still have my reservations about the Super Bowl, though. I think we make the playoffs easily. I think we can polish off Indy, Jacksonville, Houston, the Titans (bottle up Henry, and you've stopped Tennessee's offense), the Giants and the Commodes. That's 12 wins which easily puts us in the playoffs. I have confidence in Quinn and his defense. I don't have confidence in McCarthy (I knew my players were worried before the SF playoff game ) and Kellen "Boy Wonder in perpetual training) Moore. I expect someone bad call or brainfart at a critical moment in the playoffs, but I hope they prove me wrong.

...that's age perspective, CC.. lol... The older we get and deal with life chasms of dominant burrows.

We simplify occurrences or situations. I concur with what you stated.

Im enjoying this ride. This team again, IS special in its own ways.

We're very likely headed to playoffs again. And Im not letting anyone ruin my taste for Simple Vanilla ice cream.

To Space and Infinity with Dallas. ..:starspin:

I will try. That is to separate being more positive in the moment.

While all the while knowing to keep doing the same thing the same way over and over and expecting different results is insanity.

But I will try.

It is a confluence of things that drive me crazy.
1. A lot of this fan base chose the Cowboys because they were champions. They jumped on a bandwagon and are now mad because this team is merely pretty good and never great,
2. Hot take artists shoot out emotional takes to drive interactions. Vitriol sells.
3. Trolls tap in to drive to the most insane version of everything just for kicks.

The front office moves haven't been that hard to understand or even that bad.
1. Zeke was smart and he held out while he had power. Deal was no-where near as bad as pretended given he has actually held up very well by RB standards. If Dallas cuts Zeke int he off-season the deal was 4 years 50M. WILD crying over 12.5M per year.
2. Dak handing was criminal, but they wanted to avoid being Carson Wentz'd or Jared Goff'd.
3. Amari trade was pretty neutral. He isn't worth 20M a year and has less explosion or upside to CeeDee but he is really good all the same. Both things can be true.
4. Teams win negotiations with rookies every day, but veterans are going to get that lick back. You pretty much must overpay vets 90% of the time. Recognizing that can both make you cheap and also make you a better roster builder.
5. If you go all-in and do not win it all you get zero refunds in terms of cap space nor draft collateral. You just make future years harder for what?

Agree with all, but care to explain your thoughts on number 2?

I started a thread with this earlier and someone decided to delete it with zero explanation as to why. So I guess big brother may need to delete this as well? Maybe the mod will be courteous enough to educate me this time. Otherwise, ENJOY THE HYPE!!!

You have now violated rule # 1. You will be banned from this thread, benched, and you will get the scary red rule violation warning post put in this thread. Shut your mouth boy, read the rules, and think about what you did

I'm enjoying the ride, but I've also learned not to get my hopes too high. I'd prefer to be surprised in a positive manner, rather than another disappointment.
31 teams are disappointed every year. Chiefs expected to win it all last year, Bills expected to win it all last year.... neither made it, and one didnt even make the AFC title game.

Nothing is given and a GREAT team can still come up short. It is the way the NFL rolls.

You’re right when you say the front office is not dumb, and that we haven’t got the worst GM in the league…
Problem is though is that our GM is far from being the best and our front office is behind quite a few others… and in quarter of a century that’s always been the case.

I wish we had the great GM's running the bucs , Steelers and Packers right now. Or maybe the Saint since they had so many winning seasons in a row. If only we had those guys.....lol

In my opinion, if you do not win the superbowl, you are part of the 31 teams loser group, and 2nd place is as bad as 32nd. And 32nd gets a better draft picks than 2nd

That's OK, I spoke my piece as I've been known to do from time to time.

I would hope some would take into consideration that I dislike the Joneses probably more than anyone on this site. If I can give them a break, anyone should be able to.

Besides that, everyone should try and grab all the happiness they can when it is so available.
I'm more in the thought process that maybe we can succeed despite their incompetence.

No, they are easily bottom 10. Why? Because it's been blatantly obvious for many many years what is needed to make this team a super bowl contender, and instead we continuously focus on CB's and WR's, and make very odd picks that do not work out. If we had taken Hankins instead of Escobar in that draft, we would've won at least 2 more playoff games. This FO flatout refuses to make the moves that would equal success. Bottom 10.

Had they actually used escobar and not force fed witten, they might have won 2 more playoff games. Escobar is on jason garett in my opinion.

The FO should be pleased with the current team. They may be the 7th or 8th best team in the NFL

They are so certain about it that although the top 6 teams added big time talent via trades, that they still stood pat, with the exception of the Hankerson aquisition.

First off, I am as critical of the owner and his son as anyone because I just flat do not like them but some of the criticism thrown their way is overdone.

He is not the worst GM, by far, in the NFL, either now or as long as he's been doing it. The 26 years of wandering in the wilderness makes him an easy target.

I see blame for Elliott's contract and for Schultz's but is the blame for Schultz's balanced by praise for picking Ferguson and Hendershot for better options in this off season?

The blame for Prescott's is overblown because the crime was not giving themselves any options but the draft and what would a trade up in picks cost and was that worth the risk? They did what they had to do and the criticism for not doing the deal earlier ignores the fact they tried to do that. Most likely at the value they placed on him and not what the market dictated.

So, they sit at 6-2, with a backup QB steering most of those but where is the credit for Cooper Rush?

Here is what I am thinking is happening to too many of you. You are letting the past throw shade on your sunshine of this season. You just can't let it go.

Let those 26 years go and relish this season that is right now. They have the best defense in the last 27 years and a run game they seem content to lean on. This is a good team.

Yes, they could lose in the wild card round and keep that string going but why worry about that now? That's 10 games away and a lot is going to happen between then and now. So, forget then and embrace now.

Don't you really want to be happy being a fan? Or have we become happy blaming the FO for everything to the point that we do not see all of the positive moves they've made? Are we too happy being critical?

Believe me, it is not fun for me to give them credit but there is not any analyst that would have given them a chance at 6-2 when Prescott went down. I know, I heard them all.

So far in the 2022 season, this FO has done a great job and better than anyone here would have predicted. We are so busy criticizing them, the good things slip by us. And there are some really good things.
The FO or the coaches?
I believe the latter.
And yes I know the FO picked the HC, but that was two years ago and not this year.
Either way the season is far from over so let’s see how we stand in two months time.

Is that because the FO has been relying on the DCs to know what was needed? Is that why they now went out and brought Hankins in... because we have a DC who knows his stuff?

Not true. Esco lacked separation skills. They tried to use him, and he could not get open. This was in his scouting report, and that's exactly what happened.

Witten's snaps should have been reduced at that time no doubt. However, Esco was quite simply not good enough to play in the NFL. And that's how it played out after he left here.

then why dont the other31 teams do what is so blatantly obvious to you every year. I mean, if it is so easy, why arent there so many great teams playing right now? Reality is there are 5 to 6 good teams right now and w hole bunch of avg and garbage teams..... but that makes no sense, since it is so easy to see what is needed to build a SB caliber team.
