CFZ You are the GM. If you replace Dak next year, who is the improvement?

Here is the issue.

1. What happens to the cap? I, personally, don't believe the cap is a detriment. But you still have the lion's share of Dak's contract to deal with. Do you eat some of it to make the deal work? What does a vet bring with him in cap?

2. Drafting a replacement means you start from square one. Great for the cap, but there are issues which this path brings up which will create, perhaps, huge problems. Does Quinn go because you are starting over? What about Parson's? Since you are essentially scuttling some of his career to accomplish this do over. All the young players will age while you are waiting for this drafted QB to figure out how to win.

Lawrence, Martin are two.

3. Will Jerry wait? He is getting long in the tooth. Will he be patient while your new QB catches on?

4. If this is a trade like the Rams/Detroit, then who is this magic man you are acquiring? Which team will take on a player most here think is the worst QB in the league? You will be hard pressed to find a trade partner which doesn't see the warts Dak brings.

Most times people don't trade for a dead horse.

5. How do you get to the top of the draft to get this future championship QB? There isn't enough trade capital to get there, Even if the team loses more games than wins the rest of the season.

This theory about getting rid of Dak ignores the problems facing the Cowboys, just to get in position to replace Dak. This is Madden Think. It fits in with all the other lunatic ideas fans toss out because they are dissatisfied with the results.

6. How will you get any trade, either for a player, or draft spot, past Little Anus, who acts like he is eating at a hobo campfire, and living near a train yard, while he guards the last two dimes in his pocket. It has been suggested Jerry doesn't want to win a championship. I do not believe that. But I do believe Little Anus would be fine just fattening up his wallet and never bringing in another Lombardi.

So suppose for a second Big Mac went ‘LA Rams’ on Dak and shocked the world by trading his franchise QB because he knew the person he was getting was far better? And remember, the goal is next year to win it all.

Are there any Staffords left? Borderline elite QBs with cap friendly contracts? All quarterbacks signed after Dak are going to seriously hurt any team that trade them away no matter what we offered them. Teams don’t just give away franchise quarterbacks.

Biggest name free agent is probably Lamar Jackson? Would you give him the giant contract the Ravens won’t…. And can the team even afford it?

Cooper’s days are at an end if this is how our defense plays now. Frustrating that last year at the halfway point the NFL figured out our top 3 offense, this year it’s the top 3 defense.

You can spend a top draft pick but now you’re going to have to wait for development. Better make sure there is another solid running back too, because Zeke won’t be around with that salary.

And if you’re feeling like a gambler, are you going to see if you’re the next team to find a Geno Smith? Who is that next guy who rises from the bench into stardom?
It would come down to would you rather have Dak or Derek Carr. Carr is worse IMO

Those saying draft his replacement ..........

I don’t think most fans understand how difficult it is to hit on a 1st round QB.

I don’t think Daks elite, but I think he’s in the top 10ish in football sonIk doing everything I can to try and build a good team the next 3 years before moving on.

If we happen to have a 5/6 sim season along the way - that’s another discussion.

“Draft his replacement” and hope you hit again in the draft is just such a dumb answer. If you move on from dak you have to make sure you get someone better which is likely via trade and likely costs serious draft capital. If you move off of dak and go via the draft get ready to completely rebuild.

it won’t happen and probably shouldn’t. The problem with the fan base is that every quarterback is compared to roger and aikman. 2 absolute legends. This same fan base killed Romo for years and now I see daily “wish we had a qb even as good as Romo” or “daks no Romo”.

I would easily move on from dak if there was a definite upgrade. To go that route you’d have to completely tear down everything and run the risk of alienating players like parsons in the process

Thank you!!!

Im trying to go up and get CJ stroud or Bryce Young

Status quo isnt good enough

We shouldve just drafted Fields like i said we should last year
So you'd take Justin Fields over Micah Parsons if you were draft 2021 redo?

Hard pass for me…Fields has looked abysmal throwing the football so far in his career.

He’s an awesome runner but if you can’t be at least average as a passer trams will scheme that away.

Simple: Send a 1st round pick and DAK to GB for Aaron Rodgers. Done deal....

No hope.....NONE as Dak has Jerry and our team at his mercy.

49 million next year and 51 million in 2024.

Expect nothing but pain and anguish the next 2-3 years esp with the rest of the NFC East on the upswing!

If they extend Dak then a rope and a rock close to a lake might look attractive.:muttley:

P.S.The boos were only the beginning as it's gonna get really nasty in Dallas.....

I take David Carr over Dak.
