News: McCarthy: Diggs matches up well with Jefferson

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy explained in his weekly appearance on “Shan and RJ” why Diggs matches up well with Jefferson.

“I think it’s like anything, Trevon you could see last week there wasn’t one ball thrown his way,” McCarthy said. “I know Aaron (Rodgers) has great respect for him, and you’re seeing it more and more. People keep talking about him, his numbers are down but frankly they're up because people keep going away from him. That counts for something too from a value standpoint.

“But I think Trevon’s ability to go inside and outside (is important), because you have to be able to do that to play Justin -- because they play him all over the place. But I think they’re a good matchup because they both have length, are good athletes and have exceptional ball skills.”

Captain Kirk is good for an int or two most games. Let's hope Diggs is right there when the chance presents itself.

Jefferson is going to get his. He goes for 100+ nearly every game and is force fed the ball to the tune of 10-14 targets. The bigger concern is if Dallas can slow down the Vikings rushing attack. If not, it could be a long day.

Yeah. His detractors from the off-season have gone silent. Kid is turning into the ultimate shut down corner. You throw to him and its usually a PD or pick. Only time I remember him getting burned this season was by Kupp. And to be fair. Kupp does that to everyone.

He is either getting much better in coverage or teams are realizing they are better off running the ball down our throats instead of risking an interception.

Diggs played well against him last year. i dont think Diggs changes sides so unless they change that JJ will not be lined up on diggs side much ,. Brown, KJ, BL and will need help.

that the issue with the run Defense needing help and stacking boxes , taking some safety help away and playing man more then They like.. that puts KJ and Bland 1-1 with whomever is over them. thats NOT GOOD if its Thielen or JJ.

The Packers had one WR Watson, these morons just refused to put our best CB on him even though he kept catching TDs

Just seems like we get outschemed and/or set up for a big play many times and it’s frustrating.

What would be typical for me is Diggs shuts him down for the most part, but when a play is needed, we draw the short stick.

I hate feeling that way but I’ve almost been conditioned to.
