The wailing on this website when Dak signs his next extension is going to be very entertaining. You will have to keep them off of skyscrapers and away from sharp objects.

I'm not the biggest Dak guy around, but his extension is inevitable
Your job will be to talk them off the ledge !

They shouldnt have been in OT. Thats the point. Guess thats on Dak too since he cant line up at LB and help stop the run.
They wouldn't have been in OT if Dak would have done literally anything in the 4th quarter of that game.

The game isn't just 3 quarters long, ya know?

Oh, is that right?

Even when making the bet I said that health would be one of the factors in the reason he wouldn't get 1,000 yards? You were fine with it then.
I will post whatever you want me to post. But I dont think I would make a bet that didnt have an injury escape clause. lol.

Plus 3 offensive penalties on the OT drive alone. We score easily if not for those. Shoot we were well in GB territory after a Pollard run got called back by a ticky tack hold on McGovern.

Even if there was an "injury clause" I would have never agreed to it just being 2 games missed especially with 17 games being played now.

I agree the extension will be made but it shouldn't prevent posters from voicing their views and observations.
I would never say posters should never post their opinion. I'm a big free speech guy.

Reactions pro or against Dak may be over the top, but that doesn't mean shouldn't voice them.

But you talked on it

Im at least trying to bring a reasonable explanation as to why things are the way they are instead of just hating or spouting the typical "the contract sucks" line. There is a reason why things are the way they are.

I agree that I dont want to pay 20% of cap to a position that is not populated with an elite star...but I also dont want to spend 10 years looking for Brady and waste other players careers. I also would want to keep my high paying job by making the best decision. Based on the leagues habits...the best decision seems to be rolling with a busdriver and paying him pretty much what he wants so he doesnt walk to a division rival and beat you while also making the playoffs. Then you look really silly.

QBs have the power. If you want to be a Trailblazer...better hope you dont have wife and kids that love that 1M+ lifestyle you provided for a short period of time...because chances are you are going to fail more times than win.

Jerry is lucky and doesnt have to worry about losing his job. Is he dumb for not Trailblazing or does he know that its not worth it like other GMs?

Lmao at the 20th overall pick? We don’t have the trade assets to move up nor should we since drafting is a crap shoot.

You have a top 10 QB, build a team and surround him with coaching. Praying for a lottery ticket is a terrible way to plan. Less than 10% chance we land anyone better than Dak. There’s like 5-6 guys considerably better than Dak. From 7-14 they are all the same. You need a good team and good coaching.

I bet you were clamoring for us to trade for Russell Wilson a few years back huh?

I bet you're believing I'm serious too I'm just being sarcastic

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Here's an interesting one! Prescott is signed through 2024, and his 2023 salary of $31 million is fully guaranteed. His 2024 salary of $29 million is not guaranteed, nor is his 2024 roster bonus of $5 million (which comes with a March 2024 deadline). Dak is sure to be the Cowboys' starter for at least one more year after this one and probably much longer, as they'll likely look to extend him this offseason or next. But if things were to go wrong, the 2024 season is when the Cowboys would have a relatively easy out.

Moving on from Dak in the 2024 offseason would cost them no cash, and about $40 million in dead money cap charges for 2024. But Dak's only 29, and they love him there, so things would have to go very wrong for any of this to matter. Just pointing out that this extension, which feels so recent, was a short-term deal designed to get him to the market again sooner, or prompt a decision by Dallas on an extension in the next year or two.
It’s a good contract for the Cowboys and Dak. I he outplays the contract he will get another extension if he fails to play well, the Cowboys can trade him next offseason to a team of Dak’s choosing.

I will never be able to appreciate Dak's contract because I do not believe his skills and talent are worth it.

The less he does the better we are and he can't consistently commit to that play style.

He may not be worth it now, or the next year....or even the year after that

....but just wait 10 years and it will seem like a bargain for his talent level

Cowboys paid market value for Dak, which at the time looked expensive. Now the contract looks more reasonable, atleast until the next time they head to the negotiation table. Hopefully Dak is reasonable and sees the value of having good players around him the 2nd time around????

Dak haters are going to dislike him regardless what he does as they're so focused on proving their belief right they look for the bad on every play and lose clarity on whats actually good or bad. Dak isn't a perfect QB, but I still rather roll with Dak than atleast 2/3 of the other starting QBs in the league. Heck even guys like Wilson and Rodgers that appeared to be elite guys have taken steps back. Some within this fan base would gladly have traded Dak and a couple first rounders for either of those players. I could only imagine the firestorm we would see here if that actually happened.

Read the first few explanations of contracts for Rodgers, Wilson, Carr, Murray, and Stafford, including earliest outs and dead money. Love Dak or hate him, love Jerry or hate him, I think you’ll appreciate just how good Dak’s contract is compared to other QBs. Most of those teams have no options at all and are stuck with QBs, no matter how bad things get. The Cowboys are likely to extend Dak soon because they believe in him, but his contract is very team friendly and has a really easy out.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/st...ack-contract-details-need-know-2023-offseason

Unrelated side-note, I was surprised by former QB Tim Hasselbeck’s list of NFC QB’s he trusts most to win an NFC playoff game. He had Dak at number 2.

There is nothing good about Dak's contract. Yeah, it's better than Russell Wilson because he and his team sucks. But that alone doesn't make Dak's a good contract. Dak is a 50M cap hit next year. One of the biggest cap hits in the league. In order to make Dak's cap hit next year to look like this year, Dallas would have to push another 30M forward. Which they're not going to do.

I really wish people would stop comparing our situation with others and claiming we have it good. We don't. Their situation has nothing to do with Dak. Dak's cap hit next year is horrible. There is nothing good about it.
