Gallup, Shultz, Bland, or Cooper

No, I think you make a great point. And essentially we are underutilizing Lamb and underutilizing Cooper if we had them both. Cowboys made the decision to feature Lamb and not hold him back with Cooper. On that call I agree. I think Lamb is more versatile and the better player overall. So the question becomes why keep Cooper and his 22 million dollar tag over the next 3 years? Is it a luxury we really need? My answer is definitely no we dont need the luxury of Cooper. The offense can be great without him. But we did need to hold onto Gallup and Shultz.

So for me in every way I like what they did. Pollard was also a part of this for me as they had one of the best offensive weapons sitting on the bench for 3 years. Making Pollard more involved was there for the taking.

Personally I dont think they miss Cooper at all. I think the offense is better this year than it was last year. And Lamb is able to show what he can truly do.

And you have to think that Dak was in big time on this decision. And they probably asked him straight up about Cooper, Lamb, Gallup, and Shultz and what he would have wanted.

I agree 100%. I may not have articulated that well enough. This offense is better without Cooper. And I think I might say the same about this offense minus OBJ.

I would like to see the team add a stud receiver in the off season. Someone with jets to stretch the defense. But the addition of Washington, who doesn't really fit the role of speedster, may be an alternative.

I do agree we need a burner type threat out there to completely round out the pass catchers. Wouldnt want to see them use a high pick for that however.

Guard, DT, LB, RB are the priorities I would look to if I was the FO. In no specific order.

Agreed with your priorities in the 23 draft. I trust Maclay to pick them

Essentially, letting Cooper go allowed us to resign Gallup and keep Shultz in the passing game. And although Jerry got fleeced on the trade we did pick up a 5th and we can say they used it well drafting Bland.

So who are you taking? Gallup, Shultz and Bland or Cooper?

And lets remember that had Cooper stayed he would be the #2 here with Lamb going into full #1 role feature mode.
This is a click bait joke...

How about:

- No Dak and no DFlaw and no Zeke
- Have Cooper, Lamb, Schultz, Pollard, Gallup, A-Rod, van Miller or Chandler Jones, AJ Brown, a good MLB and a great run stuffing DT

?

I still have 5 mills left. Pah i am generous today: throw a slot CB in also.

Hindsight 20-20 I rather have cooper with hendershot and ferg than Schultz and Gallup. Schultz isn't a huge upgrade in the pass game over the rookies and they are at least the same if not better blockers. Coop is way better than Gallup imo and draws double teams.

You are wrong about Schultz. As are most of the people who don't like him.

Not to be "that guy" but the Cowboys actually used the pick they got in the Amari Cooper trade on Matt Waletzko. Bland was Dallas' own 5th round pick, not the one they got from Cleveland.

But your point is still valid.

It's amazing how hung up this board is over the Cooper trade. lol It's done. Water under the bridge. Cowboys are 9-3 looking to charge into the playoffs without him.

I like him fine just not at 10m. We were fine when he was hurt and the rookies will continue to get better.

My only issue with the Cooper trade was only getting a 5th for him.
Should've been a 2nd or 3rd PLUS a 5th.
But the market didn't go cry really until after Dallas made the trade.

It is all in the past.
Just go and win.

When some fans that were against it, see what they have in cap room in March, they may understand more and like it. As that will go a long way to resign other players. And yes, maybe a few FA’s.

Could have moved on next year if that was the case. That was the beauty of his contract at this point.

Bingo. Same thing happened in oskland. SAME EXACT THINGS

Gruden wanted to trade every valuable asset for draft capital. Same reason they traded Mack.
People here who have said they have football smarts said Cooper will be sorely missed. Since Dak came back our offense hasn't missed a beat.

At the same spot we are 9-3, last year with Cooper we were 8-4. I'm glad we saved money by shipping him off.

The offense looks to be in good shape without him, and I didn't think it would be. The record is directly attributable to the defense though.

Not if he restructured like he did with the browns cbr
Restructure was meaningless. It was not a pay cut. He still averages 20M per season.

Restructures only push the cap hit into future years. The Cowboys don't manage the based only on the current year. They manage it from multiyear perspective.

I'd take Gallup and Bland over Cooper, but since I also have to take Schultz it makes it a close call...just kidding. It's way to early but Bland appears to be a player. I'd keep him in the slot since he is so good in run support. Bland alone may turnout to be worth trading Cooper alone. I like Gallup and glad they found a way to keep him. He isn't a #1, but he is a strong #2 type. Schultz's blocking is so bad he can't really play the TE position, plus his pass catching hasn't been that strong this year. Luckily Dallas seems to have hit the jackpot on rookie TE's so letting Schultz walk after the year seems like a no brainer.

You could have kept Cooper and still signed everyone
We could have signed everyone
We could have took bland earlier
But I don’t think money was the only reason we let cooper walk
And I don’t see the offense being that much of a drop off with him gone
Since Dak has been back the offense is as good as it was with cooper
