Coming down the home stretch. Your thoughts on the season

What’s really frustrating is when the season started our offense wasn’t very good but our defense was playing terrific. Offensively we weren’t very productive and weren’t scoring many points, but we were winning games with our defense and relentless pass rush. I can’t recall any Cowboys team having the pass rush we had the first half of the season. We were on franchise record pace for sacks and even had an outside chance to break the 84 Bears record of 72 sacks. It was so much fun watching our pass rush harass QBs. When Dak returned to the lineup our offense dramatically improved and we became the highest scoring offense in the league. Once the offense started rolling our defense began to fall apart. Our vaunted pass rush completely disappeared. The Cowboys can never get their offense and defense going at the same time. The offense is usually good every season, but the defense always starts to crack once we get to December.

Can we put both together? That would be awesome!!!

About where I thought we would be.
Except not in 2nd place in the division.
Also too much inconsistency in different areas. I figured the defense would get better, but seems they have regressed some.

Hope they can get it back together.

As we sit right now, how would you rate this season compared to your expectation?

I went into the season thinking we'd have about the success we've had. Now, I thought we'd be here because of an "easy schedule" but that isn't the case.

After week one I figured we'd be in line for a top-flight pass rusher in the draft.

All-in-all it's been an excellent year IMO.

What say you?

Considering I had low expectations coming into this season, 7-10 at best, then after week 1 debacle, I'm pretty happy overall. I feel it's been a successful season. Hopefully we have a successful postseason to go with it.

But never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd make the postseason before the season started. So making the playoffs after all the injuries to start out is pretty impressive. I honestly thought we'd have a season like the Broncos are having. So I'm happy it's after Christmas and we're still in contention for #1 seed and secured a playoff spot. We got some dawgs on this team that wouldn't let the season be ruined. Dare I say the culture might be changing to a competitive culture and not attention seeking culture.

I really enjoyed the season. They are definitely an entertaining team to watch. It’s been a great year. Now, do it in the playoffs. We’ll see….

but this group i think is better.

This will be the first team in a while that has me so optimistic that we'll see playoff success.

It may or may not work out that way, but all things considered, we seem a better team now.

That was kinda my point... but also it's hard to get everything to lineup.

Whether it’s one and done or a sb run it’s been a good season for me . And the outcome could sting for a day or 2 but I’ll move in rather quickly.I love my cowboys just don’t get too emotional dug in with them any longer

If things fall right this is the best chance we have had in last 20 years to win it all

what we need:

1. Dak play mistake free good football
2. OL protect Dak and open run lanes
3. Defense shows up ie stop the run and get turnovers

OR

we could get bounced in wild card round

I agree. This conference is weak and we have an offense that is rolling right now. We have a great chance.

Almost any time you get 11+ wins, it's a successful season. But if we get bounced in the WC, it's a total failure
