When he was hired... he agreed to give up play calling to KM. Right then and there told us all we needed to know. He was another Jerry Puppet.

-Then last year happens, the team is completely undisciplined and loses to San Francisco. He says things will change.

-Then this year. Can someone for the love of God tell me why we were throwing the ball 2nd and 2 empty set before half? If thats a Kellen Moore playcall, then why isn't Mccarthy over ruling him? What the hell does Mike Mccarthy really do on the sideline? besides be a figurehead for Jerry jones.

Is he a decent coach? Probably, but we need more than decent right now. Can McCarthy elevate this team to where it needs to go? I think the clear answer is no. How can you run this thing back with Mccarthy and Dak and expect a different result next year?

Thats why I want Sean Peyton. Even if he can get a little more out of dak and this offense. He's a qb guru. He's also the only guy who Jerry will leave the hell alone.

Moore is the chosen one by Jerry. Not sure why but that means Big Mike is stuck with him. Also stuck with Dak for a couple more years. Jerry has already said Big Mike is coming back too.

So the Cowboys are limited in what they can do. Play calling, situational football and clock management were all issues this year. Only thing Jerry can do is tell Big Mike to make sure those things get addressed this off season. Next January re-evaluate and if they aren't fixed start making some changes. Because I don't think anything will happen this off season.

I was just referencing the people who said MM did a good job this year. I’m asking what does he really do? He’s basically Jason garret with a Super Bowl ring at this point.

I am hoping you are on to something! Jerry and SP are pretty good friends it sounds like and I think that if we would have lost last week, he probably is the next Head Coach. Now, I give it a 50/50 chance..:facepalm:

This is the only thing to save the Cowboys over the next 3 years! Fire MM, hire Sean Payton and hope that he can help coach Dak up to a QB who can win big games!

Hard for me to blame the head coach when the QB is throwing pics all over the field.

I guess he should have told Wonder Boy, "no more pass plays with this trash QB".

I guarantee you even he is going to sleep tonight finally realizing that the QB he has is really not good

I’m not so sure that he wasn’t told to be hands-off the offense, it was Kellens to run. He was probably handcuffed from the start and agreed just to get the job. He is much better than Garrett and I don’t think any HC will get to the championship game here when coordinators are forced/hired before the new HC even arrives.

Jerry and son are the problem and it just trickles down from there.

Last time I looked, Jerry & Jr. didn’t play like a dog and throw more Interceptions than anyone else in the league & 2 in a playoff game! Bring in Sean Payton, make him & Dan Quinn Co-Head Coaches in that’s what Quinn needs. Unfortunately you will loose Kellen but Paton will help Dak and maybe, just maybe that’s what Dak needs.

I'm not sure what we are bashing MM about based on yesterday's game.

Overall, do I have some issues with MM? Yes.

Can I say the team wasn't ready to play & compete yesterday or that there were bone headed head coaching decisions? No.

The failures were on the field. Primarily at the one constant weak link.

I think MM’s fate is tied to Dak’s at this point. Both guys get two more years and if they fail, it’s very likely we have a new coaching staff and QB in 2025.

I’m saying what does he do?

He didn’t really do anything. He’s a figurehead.

If he has the ability to override Moore and won’t even do that then it’s a huge problem

Why isn't Prescott checking out of the play-call? Or better yet, NOT forcing the ball where it probably should not go on second and 2 in the red zone? He's been doing this crap since he came back. McCarthy doesn't throw the football and he doesn't call the offense.

I'll save you suspense. Payton is not a quarterback guru. A good play-caller? Yes. But Brees was a good quarterback before he even landed in New Orleans. And if any guy is going to lean on the passing game to a fault it is Payton (like Andy Reid).

I watched it for years here in Louisiana. I told my brother MANY times that the offense would never really run the ball like they should because Brees was so prolific. Prescott is NOT Drew Brees. You will NEVER be able to do the same thing with him that you did with Brees...even WITH Payton. Brees is a hall of fame quarterback...who could win a TON of games with his arm alone. He made Payton look pretty good.

2 of the 3 phases of the team, the defense and Special teams, were both prepared and played well yesterday.

The offense had several missed opportunities that replay showed as it has all season.
Some want to blame it on the play that was called. Others like myself, blame it on the one failing to execute and making so many poor decisions in real time.

I'm McCarthy's biggest critic but two thirds of his team was ready. He needed the leader of the other one third to just do his job.

And that leader failed.

And again, I'm NOT a big McCarthy supporter as my past posts would show. I am speaking on yesterday's performance alone.

The wild card ceiling is reality with this QB remaining as the starter.

Regardless of coaching OR defensive support as yesterday proved.

It's hard to defend coaching staffs after 30 years of annual disappointment, but let me try:

I respect the job McCarthy did this season. I think he has instilled a toughness in this team (along with Quinn) that was evident in the way the team battled through adversity all season. Losing the starting QB typically cripples a team, and it certainly has this franchise over the last 15 years. But this year's team got better without QB1 and found its identity in the process. I also respect the way he creates competition among positions. The second cornerback slot wasn't merely handed out to the highest-drafted player, for example.

McCarthy also won 12 regular-season games and advanced to the divisional round with a quarterback that turned it over more times per game than anyone else in the league.

He's not Vince Lombardi or Tom Landry ... but I struggle to lay the failures of this season on him.

Mike McCarthy didn't throw the interception on 2nd & 8, as bad as the playcall was.

You know Dak can audible, right?
