Here is my question;
If he is so happy here, why does he interview for multiple HC jobs every off season?
Leverage with Jerry for more money is all I can think of.
I think it's to maintain relevance as a head coaching candidate. If he just sits back and says nah, I'm not interested, teams will stop calling.

I agree that it also helps with contract negotiations. I'm not sure he's really all that interested in being a head coach again, but he is interested in making all the money that he can. I think he enjoys coaching defense, so why not do what he enjoys.

Wow, we got lucky- I thought he was gone for sure. This is fantastic news. I agreed with your idea of firing MM and making Quinn HC, I thought that was the only way he would be back. Yes, now we have the next HC in the wings, perfect.
I believe that Quinn said last year that he wouldn't return to Dallas if it was perceived as a threat to McCarthy's job. So I don't think there's any kind of promise in place because it doesn't seem like he's the type to do that.

Hate to say "I told you so," but I told you so. ;-) No way was Quinn going to become Pope of a dumpster fire in some remote outpost, with a dream job already secure in Dallas. Seriously...this is huge for this team. Quinn can now rehire whatever defensive contract expirees he sees fit. Hoping KM takes a job elsewhere so we can upgrade coaching on that side of the ball. Just curious how much this cost Jerry?
Hope he has some guys in mind. He inherited both Lett and Edwards.

What a fool. We aren’t likely winning a championship .

He must be holding out for the perfect offer. But that’s a dangerous slope with this franchise. This thing could crap out before it gets better.

He should take a HC job while the phones are ringing.
Pete Carroll's eventual replacement as HC in Seattle?

Absolutely huge for us.

Quinn has built his defense, his way here. A new DC could really only screw it up.

Was going to start a separate thread on this.

Despite the fact that we got ousted from the playoffs, the defense definitely deserves praise for its two performances. When you hold teams to 14 and 19 points, you expect to win.

The last time we held two playoff opponents under 20 points was 1995. Granted, we haven't had many years with more than one playoff game since then.

Next season the Defense will be worse.

Next season the Offense will be better.

In the playoffs it will flip back around and the offense will lose the game again.

We’ll be right back here talking about why some players can’t be replaced because there’s no back up plan.

Round and Round!

He is sincere when he says he is having a blast here, now just pray to bring aboard a good, modern, efficiente offensive mind to replace KM and to have a good free agency and draft, Lets go!

I really thought he was gone I mean why come back? Does he really think we're going to win a Super Bowl? I don't.

Yes, he gets more money from Jerry. He is also first in line to get the head job after Mike.
Jerry pulled out the checkbook
Spot on. To be fair it's been said that he was being paid HC money, but yea Jerry wouldnt probably of paid him unless pushed.

Lock down the Defense so MM can work with KM's successor.

I think it speaks a lot for his character.

Being the head coach is a big deal to a lot of coordinators. Show me he cares more about his players than having his name first on the list. Makes me even more impressed with him.

Great news.
