Sign a Defensive tackle

OK so this is probably the 12th season. If I could ask this franchise to do one thing and one thing, only, it would be to sign, the best possible defensive tackle out there.
No, it’s not a position of Flash . We all know how much Jerry loves, flash.
or is it, Stephen who’s making the decisions?
Anyways, the last time I got my wish was , Zach, Martin.
 
A) we only pay money to our players
B) DT is not something the clown show cares about
C) which ever DT they do draft (if any) will be all about quickness and pass rush and so on and NOT about stuffing the middle
D) Dumpster diving at best is all you can expect
 
We're not gonna invest in established FA vet DT. .. that's seems like a team motto or sumthin' ... it's not a Stephen thang to do.

- If we see another path to a well regarded DT, .. it will come per NFL draft.
And that would be a 3 tech they are reportedly high on.

- i do see this team trying to make a "reasonable" bid to re-sign Jon Hankins. maybe 2 yr deal.
That's the most effort we will make to obtain a 1 tech guy.

- i can also see us drafting another developmental 1 tech in the late rounds, ala Bohanna, John Ridgeway .. never a 1 tech in early rounds
And it will not be a Ron Payne, Hargrove type splash in FA.
I also expect we re-bring back JAG retread vet Carlos Watkins.

That’s what I would expect. Minimal investment for ‘big bodies’ inside.

Yes please!! Specifically, I'd love to get Payne.

I'd love to land a guy like Payne, but my guess is we bring back Hankins with the rest of last years crew along with a 4th/5th round guy to compete. I'm just not sure that the Cowboys are in a great spot to add a big name free agent right now with their current cap situation, upcoming deals they have to give out, and the number of holes on the roster they have to fill.

I think best case scenario for the 1 Tech is priority #1 crowd is landing Siaki Ika in the draft. Probably have to take him in the 1st though.

Best post of your life!!! C is the letter that hit home the most! They want guys to get up the field, no we need big bodies to stop the run

Guessing they try to bring back Hankins on another 1yr vet minimum and a mid round pick. If he’s looking for a multi year then they may look at Derrick Nnadi or Ashawn Robinson and a lower round pick. For those who keep babbling about Payne (assuming he doesn’t get franchised) should really stop setting g themselves up for disappointment!
 
It’s funny and sad over the years I’ve seen guys like Henry Melton, Dontari Poe, Jonathan Hanskins, Michael Bennett all come through here…..guys past their prime….sucks. We get the guy we want years too late.

Yep. Or maybe they find another "Watkins" bargain barrel guy like Watkins was and Carlos is let walk in FA.

All you need to know is that in today's NFL, they value TBs more than DTs. That's nuts.

Yeah Hankins will be their big signing.

It's so frustrating. If they were smart, sure bring back Hankins................... but then bring in a legit guy too. Not even Payne. Give me Tomlinson or even Fletcher Cox who while not the guy of old, still was pretty good last year and had 7 sacks as a DT. Or even Shelden Rankins.

Instead we will get Carlos Watkins 2.0............... or shoot, Watkins back on another cheap 1 year deal.
 
Hankins and what we have now will not get it done, you can try till you blue in the face to fit that square peg in that round hole but it won’t work. Should know that by now.
 
The next Hill, Gallimore, or Collins incoming on day 2? Kidding, but I'm sure we will take some swings at DT and sign some other teams rotational DT, or bring some combo of Hankins and Watkins back.

However, Daron Payne, Javon Hargrave, and Dremont Jones would all be at the top of the list of free agent acquisitions. We're probably not spending that much money and all these guys could be franchised anyway.

The next tier of guys are Tomlinson, Ford, Cox. Ford is a pretty intriguing player that may have been miscast in Seattle.
 
Stephen is making these decisions

Jerry wouldve signed big names or atleast been in the hunt..

so if youre looking for Daron Payne or someone like that forget it, we like our guys and other teams guys whove been cut several times
