Brian Branch

Branch is a really good player someone might be able to get in the 2nd round after his performance.

I’m saying the extent of Guru’s “analysis” is simply hitting sort and seeing who has the fastest 40 time or most INTs.

This year he’s added a new corny arse fanboy metric: “sssssuper power.”

You’re arguing with a guy that thinks Micah sucks. End of story.

Ohhhhh gotcha.

In my defense everything I liked about him is still true he was just slower than expected .

He’s just no longer the top 20 dude I thought he was.

His on field drills were excellent, he moves so so well. People get caught up in 40s every damn year.

Guy is gonna be a top quality player.
Edit

Hes a 1st round pick, NAILED

I agree, just hard for me to stick with the first round grade considering he’s a safety which requires a little more size and length.

Branch is one of those guys you want in your secondary…Micah Hyde or Jordan Poyer type. That said, he’s difficult to evaluate where to take him because there’s always someone bigger, faster, et cetera.

He might not be a corner, but he is an excellent safety prospect and would be a great fit if we move on from Wilson.

He’s basically a Wilson that can actually cover.

I’d still use a 2nd on him despite the size.

Just like a female making up things.

It's why I like JSN. The blazing 40 lol. Goofy

Ed Reed: 5’11 205. 4.57 40

People get way too hung up on height, weight, speed. He’s big enough and fast enough, that’s it

You’re comparing to a CF playing FS when he’s more of a box safer that can play slot CB.

Not a great comp.

You can compare him to Malcolm Jenkins then. Won rings and made pro bowls playing SS and nickel. 6’0 204, 4.53 40. There are many guys in this range. If Branch were faster he wouldn’t be a safety

Jenkins was 204 with 34 inch arms…quite a bit different than 190 with 30 inch arms.

And Chauncey Gardner Johnson has 30 inch arms as well. Led the league in picks on the NFL’s #1 pass D.

There are faster dudes who were 210+ with longer arms that flopped. Because they weren’t as good of football players as Brian Branch. There is no precedent that Brian’s size can’t translate to the nfl. It’s just like the people who said DeVonta Smith would get broken in half once he stepped on the field and Russell Wilson was way too short to get the ball over the defensive line and Richard Sherman was far too slow to be a successful corner. What’s this based on? Guesswork? There’s no data to support this, no implication that his comps all failed. It’s fearmongering

And he was 210…it’s the combination of everything not just one thing.

I still think Branch is a good prospect and will be a solid pro he’s just not the top 15/20 prospect I thought he was.

He’s good at everything and I think he’ll test as a + athlete.

I could see him being a more athletic version of Donovan Wilson that doesn’t miss tackles and that can actually
cover / play slot CB.

I don’t even think the board would need to be wiped for me to like him. Hard to finalize until post combine but I he’ll be a top 15/20 guy for me.
Right now there are about 20 guys I wouldn’t kick rocks at at 26 and that’s JUST ON DEFENSE. This will be the deepest draft in recent memory. We can get really good players all the way through. Just crazy. Not even counting the usual UDFA’s who shine. I’m stoked about this draft.
