Sorry it took me a while to answer… the wifey wanted me to watch The Last of Us episode with her.

Well, I am a defensive guy at heart. I’ve always played defense and always enjoyed it more than offense… so I have a natural lean towards defensive players in the draft, I believe. So if I had to lean one way, it’d probably be D.

However, I honestly don’t care if it is an offensive or defensive player, as long as it is a player that I like and think will help the team. I just want to get a starter with that 26th pick.

Nothing helps a team more than finding a starter in the draft. A starting LG or TE can make an impact just like a starting CB or DE. At least this year. Just make good picks. That’s all I ask.

I love Addison's tape, but his size-speed ratio is scary bad. He is 5'11" 173 lbs and runs a 4.49. I'd guess the average NFL boundary CB is about 5'10" 180 and runs somewhere in the 4.4s. So Addison will be athletically outmatched on almost every outside play.

I looked up Devonta Smith and Calvin Ridley's measurables for grins. Smith didn't work out, but Ridley checked in at 6'1" 189 and ran a 4.43. It's hard to believe cause Ridley looks so rail-thin, but he's actually got 16 pounds on Addison. Dude is up a weight class.

In fact, Addison's size-speed is almost identical to Cole Beasley (175 lbs and 4.49 40). I simply can't justify drafting a Cole Beasley level athlete in the first round.

Flowers is pretty tiny too, but 182 is less of an outlier weight. He's got the 4.42 speed you need to play at that size, plus big time explosiveness numbers.
 
I'll also give you a dark horse pick... Jack Campbell.

I thought you meant it was sound logic to watch what my wife wanted to on TV… I was about to say, I agree!

With this year’s group, it is the same answer: I would like either side of the ball, as long as it is a guy that I like.
 
Hard for me to pass on Bresee, unless there's some type of red flags I missed on. Fills the weakest link on the defense.

He had a down year, but had some off the field tragedies for him, so a bit of a pass there.
I think he can become a very good defensive tackle.

I know medical, he has been banged up a few years.

I can't in good faith pick a workout warrior who has no college production. I'll take those risks in the later rounds but given how we sit out FA, Dallas needs their first round picks to play and make some sort of impact immediately. Musgrave ain't that.

If you are desperate for TE help in the first round, Mayer or Kincaid make more sense as both of them are more likely to contribute early than Musgrave.
 
For me, it would be between Bryan Bresee, Michael Mayer and Jordan Addison. Being that I really like both Josh Downs and Rashee Rice, and I think that both could be available in the second round, and the TE position may be the deepest in this draft, I would go with Bresee, and gamble that he can unlock his potential at the next level.
 
Schmitz. I kind of like the idea of Kincaid but back injuries scare me.

Look at that RAS again. Then go look at the player. He could move up the board because he has great tape, and you know what you're getting.

Campbell is a good player but he is not 1 of the 32 best players in this draft. Good tape, but not great tape. Heck he moves and breaks down plays just like LVE. Will be a solid pro, but picking at 26 would be terrible.

I still think it's possible.

LVE was also a first round pick. Basically, same player.
