As of Today, Which Player Do We Draft Round 1?

This is the other player I first saw my old friend VACowboy posting about, and I think there's a considerable chance this might be it.

But I want to stress, don't count out Zack Kuntz. I mean, not as first round, but as a prospect if they don't go TE first round.
I’d draft him on day three just for the name

Not which one you would draft, which player do you think the Cowboys draft round 1?

I'm going to guess Felix-Anudike Uzoma.

Why?

I think we will run more or less 3-4 type sets, and he fits the OLB role, and you can maybe move him around some on defense.

Off-the-wall pick, sure, but I'm going to say the Cowboys have him as the best player on their board.

Love it? Hate it?

Who do you think the pick will be?
If Bijan is there that's who you draft.

I wish I could gamble on CB in round 1 and WR,TE or RB in round 2. 4th round DT.

Unless one of the top 3 CBs fall, they will go pass catcher(WR/TE). Assuming pass catcher at 26, CB will be the 2nd pick.

This is a very good sleeper pick at 26, Cowboys did have a formal interview with him.

The Cowboys insiders are claiming Mayer or Kincaid. And it does have some logic to it... letting Schultz walk because "he's too expensive", then spending a 1st to replace him would be a classic Cowboys FO move.

Knowing the Cowboys scouting tendencies though, my guess is that they are going to go for one of the freaky twitched-up CBs in this class. Will McClay loves elite athletes from big schools. Dan Quinn loves CBs with size. And there are like half a dozen dudes in this class who would make them both happy at 26.
I know it might not be popular, but Ringo could be in play at 26. He checks a lot of the boxes, however, his length wasn't as good as many anticpatiated and we know McLay/Quinn covet that.

My darkhorse-John Michael Schmitz
Likely pick-leans towards an offensive weapon: RB, WR or TE as I see top 4 corners off the board. Is Ringo in play?

I think when it's all said and done, Ringo will be the guy. I'm not a big Ringo fan, but he fits the mold and his draft stock lines up with our pick.

I am vehemently against this pick,i will not draft him even in the 2nd Rd.

If I had to put money on it, it would be on of the top TE's or Deonte Banks. I could see them moving up for Joey Porter as well.

Hard to get a real read on where Mayer, Kincaid, Washington or Musgrave go

Unless someone like Jalen Carter free falls it will be offense skill position. Said it the second the season ended and I am going to say it till the pick is in.
Alot of chatter about them looking at CB as well

I don’t get the infatuation with TE, when we already have Ferguson and Hendershot. We have more pressing needs, like DT, WR, MLB, RB, G…

Speaking from the heart I really want to address OL at pick #26 not sexy but if we are going to run we need too.
In rounds 2 and 3 especially if someone slips I might be there to scoop them up BPA

If he’s there… big IF… I think they’ll take Dalton Kincaid. His play was phenomenal. You usually don’t see a TE have a season (or career) like Kincaid.

His hands are some of the best that I’ve ever seen. He just doesn’t miss.

And while he does have very good athleticism and movement, he has been so good because of his instincts, his feel for coverage, and his football IQ. He wins all the time because of what he has going on between his ears. Ultimately, that is what makes a guy great or not.

I like other guys too for pick 26… but I would be 100% cool with Kincaid there. I think the team really does like him and wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s there and the team pulls the trigger.
What do you do about blocking because thats not his cup of tea ?

Ferguson is a pretty decent blocker but if you wanted more than that you could do what they’ve done plenty of times: put a reserve OL at TE and let him block. Maybe Farniok.

You could have 12 personnel with Ferguson and Farniok as the TE’s and you’d have good blocking with Ferguson maybe going out on a route.

Or you could use Kincaid and Farniok and have the same options.

I’d like Kincaid and Ferguson because Ferguson blocks well but is also a danger to the defense in the passing game. That would likely stress a defense a bit.

Anyway, that’s the gist of some of the options the team would have.
