See a tightly contested 3 team race with Washington not quite there to threaten offensively yet because of their QB needing another year.

Don't see any incredible standout superiority in any major phase of the top 3 with the exception of maybe possibly a small decline by Philly on their oline and dline's 2022 dominance. But they will still be right there in the thick of it.

I guess I could go back and forth with the OP on each of the 3 rosters to include GM, players and coaching but still see a 3 team fight to the finish this year similar to last year but maybe the Giants improving even a little more.

I still see it as PHL, DAL, NYG and WAS.

Losing the DC and OC for PHL isn't that big of a deal because they were both top notch so it is keep that going, do not try and re-invent the wheel. If Davis and Dean can play and stay healthy, their best picks form 22 should show up well.

I really wanted Nkobe Dean because he's as sideline to sideline as they come and Quinn did very well with Deion Jones.

PHL is all about those lines and they've done a good job keeping them going witn one of the best GM's.

The real difference between DAL and PHL is that before the season starts, the GM will announce the team ready and begin the selling and PHL never feels it's complete, always one more thing they can do.
The knock on both Davis and Dean though, they take plays off (from things I read and heard going into last season), and do not give 100%. Now can coaching in the NFL change that, possibly.
But I would still take both players here.

Washington beat the crap out of Dallas with a 3rd-string rookie 5th-round quarterback, and then Dallas went and lost to an the last rookie taken in the wild card round.

Who knows what Dallas is or isn't at this point.
All facts there, but to be fair Dallas didn't have much on the line against Washington in a game where most posters on here were upset starters were playing at all.

Also that 7th round rookie whooped up on everyone and was undefeated before losing in the NFCCG where he only played about 20 snaps....half of which all he could do is hand the ball off.

You don't replace Javon Hargrave with Jordan Davis. Hargrave had 18.5 sacks and 19 TFLs the last two seasons. Jordan Davis might not reach those numbers in his career. He's a completely different player.

That inside pressure lost is significant and Jordan Davis isn't helping you replace it.
If he is healthy and conditioned, Davis is that immovable force in the middle that forces teams to run to the perimeter. But there has been this question about his conditioning since he was a soph at UGA.

yeah he wont replace the sacks but they might get Carter and they still have Cox.

Our DT's aren't in the same universe.

I watched a lot of UGA football and Dean did not take plays off, he was a machine.

Davis has some questionable conditioning. A line heard in every UGA game by the color analyst was "where is Jordan Davis"?

True Purdy got hurt real early and had to come back in because he was the only QB they had that could walk...but he couldnt throw the ball..

Yeah immovable in that he's not getting into the backfield and hitting the QB either. He does not replace what Hargrave gave them.

Wash needs a QB right now maybe slightly better.

Giants were missing all 4 starting DBs otherwise we lose game 2 last season.

Eagles are a question, are they as hungry as last season? Big test for HC. We'll see.

Kellen will be more of a loss than we expected and Mike won't be the savior everyone thinks.
Quinns defense will be stout but don't know if they'll make up for the offense. Everyone thinks we'll be a running juggernaut but you have to have a ligit threat to pass also or you'll be pressed all the time.

Right now I think 3-3 would be my expectation for the division. Best case.

But it's really early.

Philly definitely taking a step back. I think they might be trading back to pick up another 1st next year instead. When the have to pay Hurtz assuming they trade back their draft in 2024 would be 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, 2 fourths and 4 fifths.
I think they are readjusting their cap while piling up the comp picks.

Giants are interesting. I love the TE pickup.

Washington needs to go get Baltimores QB cause their D is nice.

I could see s scenario where dallas finishes anywhere 8-9 or 12-5.
Something would have to go VERY wrong for Dallas to finish with a losing record. It would take a monstrous amount of injuries to key players for them to regress 4 wins when they will almost certainly have a roster going into the season that is even better than last year's.

if they dont do anything about their 1 tech and 3 tech and improve the line it could be a problem. I got 0 faith in tyron and Steele is coming of a major injury. The other teams in the division are no longer bottom feeders. Especially if washington solves their QB issue

Dallas should be the top of the list in the NFCE but I have zero faith in McCarthy. I think the offense takes a step back just hope the defense can cover them consistently enough. Rodgers best plays came after the play broke down not from the genius of mikes play calling. I need to see how they function. How well does Pollard run coming off a fractured ankle and soft tissue surgery? Assuming they get a capable RB or healthy Pollard the cowboys should be able to win the east.

The 1 and 3 tech positions need improved, but it is realistically the same DT rotation on a defense that has retained every important contributor and added a pro bowl level corner. The defense will still be a top 5 - 10 unit at worst. On offense I understand the concern with the tackle situation, but again it is really no different from what Dallas dealt with for the rest of the season after Steele went down. It was still serviceable even after the Steele injury and all arrows are pointing up with his recovery. Adding Cooks will instantly raise the level of play at the WR position. Gallup is much better as a #3 and Lamb-Cooks-Gallup gives you a fringe top-10 starting receiver group. Additionally, I view Zeke as addition by subtraction. No longer handing him the ball will help this offense immediately.

Combine all of this with the fact the Cowboys will be adding a full complement of draft picks to a nearly 100% intact roster coming off of a 12-5 season + a wildcard victory and I would be absolutely shocked to see them win any less than 10 games barring major injury at the QB position. Dallas went 4-2 against the division last season with one of those wins being a loss in a meaningless week 18 loss to Washington. The Cowboys own this division head to head and has for nearly a decade now. I don't really see anything the Giants and Commanders are doing that makes me view the games against them as anything but likely wins and the Cowboys will probably split with the Eagles again.

This team should hands down be improved this season and anything less would be a major disappointment.

Nice post. I have little faith in new playcaller or his QB so I think the offense takes a step back as well.

We are in the minority on this here though.

But I am used to that, lol.

the Cowboys have actually improved so far and the Eagles have regressed but remain strong.

Cowboys and Eagles in a dogfight next season which may go to the final week to decide the winner

Giants and Skins will remain spoilers and may be able to make some noise but remain in the East cellar.

While not claiming Lamar Jackson is Top 5 QB's in the league, there is no denying that his style of play makes him probably Top 10.

That said, with the draft just over 1 month away, could a team like Washington who currently holds the #16 pick overall and is in line for a good player albeit not a QB have reached out with Jackson and in essence verbally said we will sign you and give you a sizable contract with guaranteed money but only after the draft thereby forcing Baltimore's hand to either match the offer or settle for (2) 1st round picks in 2024 and 2025, thereby missing out on a pick in 2023???

If you add Jackson to the Washington team, with a solid defense and say they select Bijah Robinson with the #16 pick, now you have a team that suddenly has a QB that does not have to run as much (yet defenses still have to respect is running ability) because of a solid RB. Hmmmmm
