Lane Johnson gets paid

...but how does the money actually break down in the grand scheme of things?

Not sure how he can be under contract for the next four years if it's a one-year deal. Something's seriously amiss here. It appears it's actually a $72,000,000 contract over 4 years not what is claimed.

I understand what the tweet is saying, but I don't understand why....$30MM for a guy who will be 35/36 when the deal kicks in. Was he holding out for more money or something?

One year extension. Quite simple
Not really. The one-year extension is for $30 mil, which seems very much like a major overpay on their part.

He's highly unlikely to fulfill that obligation in four years. It seems to me like they're cutting their own throats.

The details are all that matters. This will be a restructure that saves cap space this year. If it's solely a 1 year salary of $33M in 2026 it wouldn't even make sense doing it now.

I really hate the BS reporting taking place as the money being reported was an add-on to an existing contract and not necessarily a 1-tear $33M deal that is being consumed.

Let's wait to see how the contract is actually spread out as the Schefters of the world are jumping to get the news out and tweeted before relaying all the info.

The Cowboys better find away to sign Steele long term before the regular season. The tackle market is getting insane.

This is nothing more than Howie doing Howie things and manipulating the cap. He frees up space now to get under for this season.... possibly Hurts extension soon? Who knows, I hope Johnson retires, they would be screwed then big time.

25mil for LT ~20mil for RT.

Luckily, Steele is not near Johnsons level.
