The fight led to Clint Longley being suspended by the Cowboys, then traded to San Diego. The Chargers got Longley and Dallas's 1977 first round pick (#24) Cowboys got a 1977 first round pick (#14) and a 1977 second round pick. (#41) So, they swapped 1st rounders and Dallas gained 10 spots and got a 2nd rounder. Using today's draft value chart it was a high price for Longley. Dallas unloaded those picks and more to Seattle to get Tony Dorsett.

I wish there was some way we could get Dak to sucker punch Booger or Chuckles....it sure would solve our problems.

My all time #1. There is a reason he is in my avatar. The REAL Captain America.

I'm surprised you don't catch daily crap from the Dak zealots over your choice of avatars.

It's funny that game sticks with me all these years not because of the fantastic win which Roger engineered.

it was the day my father finally gave up on his New York Giants and became a cowboy and Staubach fan.
It took him a long time to finally grow up???

Longley didn't.
Longley got full of himself after that 1974 Thanksgiving game. He’s kept a very low profile through the years. I’ve only seen one interview with him many years ago on NFL films.

The greatest play in NFL history. Me, my Dad & Mom all drove to DFW International Airport to greet the team when they arrived at the terminal. Dad worked for the airline that they flew home on. We had access to the gate.
