Overthecap shows he would have a $12.5 dead hit for LA in 2023 and in 2024 if he was traded post June 1st. Not too bad for them, but any team trading for him will still be paying quite a bit plus whatever it takes to acquire him. If he was traded, I'd imagine it would be an in-season trade and even then I doubt it.

His contract is interesting to say the least.

OTC shows a cap hit of 29.34mil in 25, his first void year but only the 8mil prorated bonus in 25 and 26(void years)
Spotrac shows the 8mil, but a 6.66mil roster bonus in 25 and 26.

So, the 29.34mil cap hit makes sense in that it all accelerates once the contract truly voids at the end of 24. So, he has a 20mil option that becomes fully guaranteed if he's on the roster in 24. So, the dead cap in 2025 would be 13.33mil if traded and the prorated original signing bonus is eaten by the Rams when traded.

But, the way I see it, if he's traded post june 1st, the Rams eat the 12.5mil bonus in 23, but in 24 they eat the Prorated signing bonus in 24/25/26 for a dead cap of 28.5mil.

I just read this Article and it appears No one will be returning on defense . . .
https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/...h-chart-post-free-agency-defense-aaron-donald

What do you believe it would take to make the Trade to acquire Him?

They need bodies as well as Picks . . . Maybe we could package some of our Younger Guys that can't see the field

This is the move that would bring home the Lombardi
Atleast 2 firsts imo. He's the best dt of this generation. And he's still the best dt in the game. Probably the best player on defense in the nfl.

Yeah . . . I was just Pipe Dreaming and figured He would be the Happy Ending we as Cowboy Fans deserve

He has one foot in the Grave . . . They ate in rebuild mode . . . Maybe they would do him a solid and Come over here and let Him be a BIG PART of something Special . . . Maybe Legendary with Him

Who knows . . . I will hold my Breath until the Trade Deadline . . . Maybe they eat half the contract and a 3rd will do it

If he forced a trade that would work in the team trading for him favor.

That is what I was banking on . . . There is no one there . . . they may not be able to field a team . .

It makes no sense for a legend at the end of his career it stay they. . Why would someone who has already contemplated Retirement will want to Play out the season with the Rams . . . I don't see it

If not here he will end up somewhere else

Hasn't he been on retirement watch for a few seasons?
This, no way I give up something for him when he’s likely to retire at any point. Read the team had to beg him to come back in the off-season before the year they made their run. He clearly doesn’t want to play much more.

Any money already paid to the player stays on the Rams cap as dead-money.
- His 2023 pay is divided into a 15M bonus and a 13.5M base salary.
- The 15M bonus has already been paid which means they would eat that amount if he is traded.
- The Rams would have 41M in dead-money is they trade him.

Seen an article saying Dallas should draft Kancy, as he is supposed to be an Aaron Donald clone, or could be.
That is the better route to go. Instead of mortgaging the future for an older player that talks retirement the past 2 years.

I like Kancy but it would all depend on who is there at the time

I would like Donald on the team as a veteran hired gun but not if we have to mortgage the future

I just see him as someone who more then likely will want out of that situation

They can do 25 million if they really wanted to.

My question is, is Aaron Donald still Aaron Donald. 5 sacks in 11 games last year....
But his tackles, both solo and assists were right up there with his 16 game seasons and his TFL were at his norm. Also had 10 QB hits. He was ranked the third best interior defender per PFF.

Pair him with Micah, the defense the QB pressures go up and so do INTs.
