Considering how many of your posts are about Mayer, it really must be something personal with you. Did he piss in your Wheaties or what?
You might want to read the title of the thread and see that Mayer is the topic.

At best he’s Witten.

It’s more likely he’s Kyle Rudolph or someone like that.

If the Minnesota Vikings draft him do they say he’s Witten or Kyle Rudolph?

Regardless he’s a 750 yard a season 5-7 TD on average a year guy I think.

We don’t need a first rounder to find that production.
At best hes Gronk

Gibbs for sure would have a huge impact.

Any of the top WR prospects is potentially more impactful then this guy.

I’m taking corners, and linemen on both side of the ball over him too.

I can get a TE that will produce like Mayer will anywhere.

I can’t find Offensive linemen, defensive linemen, corners, and wideouts to some extent unless I draft them.

Plus, I’m currently sold on Ferguson and Hendershot as quality players at the position and this draft has a ton of legit TE talent.
And yet, how many posts have you made in the last year and a half which states you don't take a RB in the first?

And, would you agree that most of the WR's that will fall into an area where Dallas can reach are undersized? If so, how do you justify a player at the WR position who has a shorter life expectancy in the league? The shorties don't end up having ten year careers, especially with their first team. And the top four WR's will be picked long before Dallas has a shot.

Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/TCU_logo.gif is a big receiver, but has several problems. Questionable hands and doesn't seem the challenge for the ball. And, you most likely will need to trade up.

Corner is an option.

Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Georgia_logo.gif Good size and really good speed. However.....

“There are some really good games but there are some average ones, too. I think you project the size and athleticism because he’s got them both and he’s scheme independent.” -- Regional scout for NFC team

And you will most likely need to trade up above the Jags to get him.

Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Oregon_logo.gif The knock on this guy is his lack of toughness. With Deion making business decisions, that was okay. Not this guy.

Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Pittsburgh_logo.gif This guy has a shot at being there. And drafting him would prevent him from going to the Eagles. However, this guy is 6'1" and weights 281 pounds. NFL guards will take his lunch money.

The point is Catch, these are guys around where Dallas will draft. In a deep draft these guys wouldn't sniff the first round.

Now there will be people who suggest trading down. Does this mean you were ankle deep in the quick sand and decided your best move would be the take a few steps forward and get chest deep. Meaning move down into the lesser talent for an extra pick, of lesser talent.
All the platitudes about value and talent are directly in proportion to how deep the draft is.

Dallas has made some really good picks, CeeDee, Parsons and Smith. They may pull a rabbit out of a hat this year.

But to use a broad brush about first round talent and what to expect has to be filtered through how much talent is in the pool.

I’d take Mayer all day in round 2.

If I’m going to take a position that isn’t premium with our first I’m taking Gibbs.

Darnell Wright is my top choice.
Wright is my top choice. At least your in the ballpark.

Ummm you may want to look again.

They spread the ball out and run a uptempo offense full of pick plays.

There was nothing boring about the Patriots.
Are you really that lacking in comprehension?

Outside of a couple of people like Gronk, boring is what you could call most of the mainstays of the Patriot Dynasty

I would take a RB in the first. If I said that then I’ve changed my mind since but I don’t remember saying it.

However I have said that you shouldnt pay RBs and I told you at the time we shouldn’t pay Zeke when you were all for it.

You don’t pay RBs for what they did. You pay them for what they will do going forward.

No I read exactly what you said.

You said the Patriots have a boring team when nothing could have been further from the truth.

They were offensive innovators of anything.

Your perception is not the reality of what their offense was.

Let me guess. Garrett was the next Landry for you? Big fan of his work?

The Patriots were the poster boys for next level Xs and Os on offense.

Btw, they had Tom Brady.. lol.. Nothing boring about him.

Yes, but, especially in the latter part of that, they had Gronk as a key kog. I've seen Gronk compared frequently to a Gronk or a Witten. Between him and our other TEs, that would be amazing. Don't forget, before it turned out he was a murderer, Aaron Hernandez and Gronk were a lethal duo. To me, a trio of Mayer, Ferguson, and Hendershot would be such a deadly trio. Then, factoring in the other WRs we have, and teams would struggle to defend us. That's almost the perfect offense.

I think many dislike Mayer here cause he isn’t that so called modern TE who is more of an oversized receiver. Kincaid, Mustgrave fit that type, where Mayer is more of an old schooled TE, one who can do everything well and is an asset in both the run and passing game.

Gronk is a million times better than Witten.

The Mayer and Gronk comparison is ridiculous.

Gronks a freak of nature. Mayer is a normal prospect athletically.

If anyone has Gronk potential it’s Darnell Washington.

Name this impactful player. This draft, by all accounts runs about 16-18 deep in what is considered first round talent.

Drafting at 26, name me the player that you think will be impactful. And be realistic and not some real stud falling far past his draft slot.

The idea of value is in direct proportion to the talent throughout the first round. Shallow first round talent means your selections are limited to the entire list of teams who passed on your guy.

I am not advocating Mayer at all. I have clearly stated I think this team needs to recognize where they feel down last year and draft a guard. And there is only one guard that sits on tope of several lists.

O'Cyrus Torrence. I read something a few days ago which stated he may be Larry Allen-like with his skills. Not his speed. But his ability to slobber knock defenders.

But even then, that pick is a bit of a risk. I'm no expert, but I can read the tea leaves when it comes to seeing where the team fell apart.

So tee it up. You pick out this impactful player that will be there at 26.
Torrence reminds me of Leonard Davis

And if he is a baby Gronk, as he's been nicknamed, how amazing would that be for us? Especially with the other players we have. Gives me him, Becton, and Archane in the first 3 rounds, and I think this team will do great things this season. Especially if we also get Tre Tucker in round 6.

I don’t like where he is projected to go based on what he is capable of.

Terrible value.

I'd be keen on Darnell Washington too, in fairness. Still, I think having a trio of Mayer and the other TEs we have would be such a nice trio.

It would be nice. That’s about it.

Id rather have potentially more explosive plays on offense though then drafting a TE that’s kind of like a fullback for the offense instead of a offensive mismatch.
