TE Mayer & Washington

Will be more than happy to come back at the end of the 2023 and 2024 seasons to compare what Washington, Mayer, and especially Kincaid have done for their respective teams.
Two seasons is good. Qb and scheme. Washington is a joke.

I think they want to tank for Caleb Williams along with a few other teams.
Interesting you mention. I think the crafty Rams are gonna start fire sale-ing players at the deadline if they don’t start well and get in on the Williams sweepstakes.

Wouldn’t mind if we left this draft with some extra capital for next year. If Aaron Donald is available you’ve gotta do it, even if it’s two ones.

The insider who said keep in eye on Robinson Mayer, Wright and Saunders probably has knowledge of the Cowboys simulated mock. I think Saunders is the wipe out scenario. Kiper really loves both McDonald and Forbes. Those two are wild cards along with Hooker.
Think Hooker goes to a QB needy team outside the top 10, heard Vikings love him

180 receptions to 45.

If you don’t see the fundamental difference in sample size you shouldn’t be talking stats.
265 targets to 71 targets. Washington would have to average 6.9 yards per target over 194 targets to get down to Mayer’s average. Stats posted without context are meaningless, which is the point. Washington wasn’t used or needed as a receiving TE at Georgia.

I would say lack of production by tight ends in college is not a sign of lack of production in the NFL. This is due to things such as scheme, a lot of tight ends are in systems that do not cater to production at the position. Off the top of my head, Kittle is good example of this. With that being said, production in college can be a good indicator for those who have it. Mayer is the safer pick, hands down. There is definitely scouting hats being worn when putting Washington over Mayer, but it's not as outlandish is someone would think.
Anyways, double it and pass them to the next team.

How much did Washington benefit from the D being stunned every time a ball went his way? How is that for context? Who was covering him if anyone? How is that for context?

OK. Then let’s go full bore with context analysis.

Compare the QBs each player played with and the offense and limitations in that offense each played.

I think Washington is going to try their best for Kincaid considering he is a bigger faster stronger Kelce.
Kelce was bigger at his combine than Kincaid. Taller, heavier, longer arms.

Washington played on a team that has a TE that very well could be a top 10 draft pick next year Brock Bowers. That is probably why he wasn't targeted very often .

Don’t bother. It won’t ever sink in.

The RAS scores. Washington crushes Mayer. Also Mayer’s score is similar to Shultz. The RAS score is what seems to separate good tight ends from great ones.
This…

Almost every pro bowl caliber TE in the NFL has a RAS score around 9+.

Mayer is a very safe prospect. I don’t think he’ll bust but I also don’t think he’ll ever sniff 900/1000 yards.

If we’re talking about taking a low value position 1st round TE he better be a freaking DUDE. Mayer ain’t.

Honestly don’t see much difference between him and Laporta who could be had a round later.
