Underrated position as far as run defense in this system. We really struggled last year on stretch runs. I love Gervon Dexter at that spot, but he is a 2nd rounder and I dont expect them to go DL that high again in this draft.

A few names to watch that fit the 4i mold are Isaiah Foskey, Tuli Tuipulotu (however both could be 2nd rounders too, and Byron Young (Bama).Young is probably a 3rd or 4th round guy (although I dont think he last to ours)

Tyler Lacy is late rounder (possibly even UDFA) that fits the mold of a 4i as well

Heard they really like Lacy and may take him higher then many expect.

Some insiders stated Mazi was similar to Mebane, could he potentially play there as well?

NFL.com has a grade on Lacy similar to a mid rounder (6.18). I could see that because even though there isnt much pass rush there, there is flexibility. I think he is a lesser version of Byron Young, he could still wind up a quality role player

You are talking about Bama's Young not the Tenn one with the same name?

Possibly more Red Bryant as well
You know Quinn is going to try to move him around, if he is athletic as they say, think he can play multiple spots. Want Quinn on this kid like he was with Parsons in his rookie season.

Sounds like a good day 3 prospect that has the versatility to play multiple spots like a Goldston.

With Smith, Hankins and Bohanna we have 3 DTs over 300 lbs. Don't need another guy for 4i, imho any of those guys can "fill the bill" there...

Smith is probably the only one of them that can play 4i. And even thats a maybe. 4i is usually more similar to a 5T than a NT

NFL dts are not just somebody who weighs a lot, they have to have strength, footwork, intelligence and so forth, with ability they can coach up somebody to play 4i. Besides, 4i isn't a totally separate position, any DL position involves multiple things. Not like Dallas didn't have any good DL players on the team already...

I don't see where they draft another DL aside from a later round camp body lottery ticket. Roster spots are getting very competitive, unless we get an edge player who can get significant snaps at LB I just dont see room. OL, RB, CB, TE I would think are all priorities over bringing in another DL at this point.

Plus as others have said I think this team has plenty of candidates to play the 4I. I wouldn't sweat this too much.

1. When did the Cowboys play a 4i vs the run?

2. Mazi often aligned as a 4i.

The video guy even points out when Mazi is aligned as 4i.

as a notre dame fan,i'd love to get de isaiah foskey.
my gut says it'll be a ol...wr...cb tonight in rd2.

Are you talking about someone to move into Tanks role?

I like Sam as that guy but LOVE Derrick Hall out of Auburn as a round 2 target.

The Cowboys have like 7 guys who can play 4i. It's a niche role that doesn't require a specific player, and there's very little functional difference between a 3T and a 4i.
I keep seeing people mention 4i. My guess is that they think the base end position that Red Bryan played in Seattle is 4i which is wrong.
