The smarter here know that Romo is high up the leader list in all-time 4th quarter NFL comebacks, ranking #21st.

But let's investigate that ranking with greater insight. Romo simply didn't play as many games as guys at the very top of the list. Coming from a small college, he didn't get a shot at starting for Dallas until his third year. And then with his back injuries, Tony's career was cut short.

How about we look at a more revealing number. On a per-game basis which QBs in NFL history were most likely to deliver a 4th quarter comeback?

In this thread I'll also explore how many fields Romo has enjoyed success: Football, Golf, Broadcasting, Commercials, Family, Predictor, Bailer-out-ofJerry, and Funny Guy. And yes, we'll even hear from an NBA player who competed with Tony and seriously thought Romo could have had a career in the NBA!

As we all know Romo never achieved success as a field goal holder. And some reports are that he's not always great at some community park pastimes. If you want to be small and focus on that...you go for it! ;)

Next up...the numbers: Captain Comeback.

Romo? What he did is an irrelevance, he wasnt or isnt the benchmark for anything.

If you wilt under a playful jab...this might be a difficult thread for you. Factual haymakers, left and right, are coming.
Yes, like how you wilted under with the "Tony Romo strikes again" thread? Got it.

Waiting for the numbers.

35 NFL Quarterbacks in the history of the NFL were clutch enough to lead over 20 Fourth Quarter Comebacks in their career. Here they are, ranked by total comebacks.

This puts Romo above 99.8% of all QBs in clutchness.

Oh, but it gets better. Isn't it a better to take the top guys and then look at what they did per season or per game? Of course it is. Some guys simply have shorter careers. This absolutely is why data analysts often prefer ratios to simple totals.

Cowboys team defensive ranking in Romo era:
2007, 13th
2008, 20th
2009, 2nd
2010, 31st
2011, 16th
2012, 24th
2013, 26th
2014, 15th
2015, 16th

Cowboys head coaches after Romo's first year as starter:
Wade Phillips
Jason Garrett

Proof Romo just couldn't deliver. If he was a real champ he would have been player-coach and doubled up, starring on defense.

Cold stone killer

On a short list of most poised QBs under pressure in NFL history. Who can so repeatedly keep their cool and deliver darts in such mayhem?

I dont know if 'poised', is quite the word, however, his ability to scramble created time for players to get open.....but I still dont get the relevance to where we are now.

You're not sure that an NFL QBs ability to repeatedly dodge hounds-from-hell lineman in the most outrageous way possible, all while looking downfield for targets constitutes penultimate poise. OK, then.

I still dont get the relevance to where we are now.
Towards the end of this thread I'll answer that question. Way too much more so share first.
