Where Romo Ranks all-time as Captain Comeback (and complete success story)

The smarter here know that Romo is high up the leader list in all-time 4th quarter NFL comebacks, ranking #21st.

But let's investigate that ranking with greater insight. Romo simply didn't play as many games as guys at the very top of the list. Coming from a small college, he didn't get a shot at starting for Dallas until his third year. And then with his back injuries, Tony's career was cut short.

How about we look at a more revealing number. On a per-game basis which QBs in NFL history were most likely to deliver a 4th quarter comeback?

In this thread I'll also explore how many fields Romo has enjoyed success: Football, Golf, Broadcasting, Commercials, Family, Predictor, Bailer-out-ofJerry, and Funny Guy. And yes, we'll even hear from an NBA player who competed with Tony and seriously thought Romo could have had a career in the NBA!

As we all know Romo never achieved success as a field goal holder. And some reports are that he's not always great at some community park pastimes. If you want to be small and focus on that...you go for it! ;)

Next up...the numbers: Captain Comeback.
The Romo haters and Dak fanboobs will clearly be triggered by this post

Romo? What he did is an irrelevance, he wasnt or isnt the benchmark for anything.
He holds numerous Cowboys team records including touchdown passes, passing yards, and most games with at least 300 passing yards. Romo has career stats of 2,829 completions, 248 touchdowns, 34,183 total passing yards and a 97.1 quarterback rating. Romo’s other accolades include: 2014 NFL passer rating leader, 2014 NFL completion percentage leader, two-time NFC passer rating leader, 2009 NFC passing yards leader, 2007 NFC passing touchdowns leader, and was honored with the 2011 Ed Block Courage Award. Romo is the only Cowboys’ quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season (done four times) and the first quarterback in franchise history to average over 300 passing yards a game in a season.

The thing with the Jason G offensive was it started slow and really didn’t work until they hit panic mode and let Romo go. The exception being the years Jerry took play calling away and they ran the ball better under Lineham.

But we have to be consistent. As with Dak, its all about winning.

Romo threw 5 interceptions against the Bills and ended up coming back to win and that deserves praise? To an extent it does but I mean he threw 5 interceptions...how many of these comebacks were the result of Romo not being able to move the offense and being the reason we were down to begin with?
Yea that's one of his biggest comebacks. If it wasn't for this board I would have forgot about it years ago.

IN 2015, Romo was injured but when he was healthy he posted:

A passer rating of 79.4 5 Touchdowns and 7 interceptions in just 4 games.....I don't know what in the hell made y'all think he was getting better but 2014 was not the last time we saw him.
Stats are for fantasy football geeks and moms.

You just don't understand what you're watching. At all.

2 playoff wins is all he did. Played mediocre in many play-in games and playoff games. That's his legacy. Wish it could have been different but it is what it is.
I agree. I thought we had a legit shot at winning when we had him but ultimately we didn’t sniff a SB. We can’t ignore what our eyes saw just because we like the guy.

There was only one Captain Comeback and he got that label because he brought the Cowboys back in some big games. Romo wasn’t a good big game QB. He suffered far too many meltdowns in the games that mattered most.

They don't want to hear the truth. They are still stuck in Fantasy Land.
