Brock Bowers might go down as the BEST college TE of all-time.

Over two seasons, Bowers already has 119 receptions, 1,824 receiving yards, and 24 total TD’s.

Kyle Pitts (highest drafted TE in history) had 100 receptions, 1,492 receiving yards, and 18 total TD’s over three seasons.

Bowers has better numbers in every statistical category and STILL has one more year left.

Many NFL scouts reportedly believe Bowers may end up being the “best” TE prospect of all-time.

He’s legitimately great. I still like the upside and versatility that Kyle Pitts offers but would be thrilled to be the fan base that lands Bowers.

Top 5 draft pick.
Another player I love but have no shot at.

This is it. I haven’t scouted Bowers so I cannot speak completely on it.

But NFL teams draft you because of your potential talent, how good you are and how you fit in their scheme. Not because you put up eye popping numbers.

He’s a legit top 10 pick. But best all time might be a stretch. People forget how good of a prospect Vernon Davis was.

It's hard to give Bowers the "generational" label, after Pitts went top 5 just a few years ago.

But looking over TE draft history, I think the only prospects on his level this century are Pitts, Vernon Davis, and Kellen Winslow Jr.

I looked it up out of curiosity while writing my post above. I thought Davis was an average college TE, vaulted up the board by an all-timer Combine. But he was an All-American before then.

Give Pitts an actual QB and I think he puts up numbers

People still think drafting a tight end top 15 is smart. Didn't learn a thing from generational Pitts huh

None of those 3 were close to him in terms of college production.

They were drafted based on athletic ability.

Vernon Davis had a 9.94 RAS.

Davis average per season:
28
457
3

Bowers average per season:
60 (over 2x)
912 (914 would be 2x)
12 (4x)

Davis in 3 sessons:
83
1371
9

Bowers in 2 seasons:
119
1824
24

He will be considered the best TE in college football history and that does make him a solid prospect but nothing guaranteed. He also played with another weapon at the other TE position in Darnell Washington.

Athletic ability is what matters the most for TE prospects.

Some positions in football tend to be "tape" positions, where Combine testing doesn't project very well, (ie QB), and some are "measurables" positions where it does (ie RB). TE is very much a measurables position.

So Bowers is still missing the largest part of his pro evaluation, in that sense. But I'm willing to bet his workouts will turn out OK. If he shows up to next year's Combine and runs a 4.8 or something, things will get very interesting.
